I'm not a good writer so pls pardon any typographical or grammatical error. I just want to pour out my mind here. It's going to be a long one I must warn u.
============

So it's a few minutes past 4am and I'm up; although I tried going back to sleep but it was a futile attempt. So I picked up my phone and messages about the just concluded BBN (Big Brother Niaja) reality show was all over my whatsapp messages and other social media platforms.
Different opinions here and there; some think it's scripted, some think it's meaningless, many think it's an immoral show and that Mercy who was one of the contestants, is too morally bankrupt to emerge as the winner.

Well, I'm highly melancholic, and as such, my mind got to work. I started thinking that's how a lot of people will be disappointed on the last day when they see other people who they judged by their own earthly standards in heaven while they themselves who go around forming holier-than-thou will be asked to go to hell. Do u know why? Because they are hypocrites.
You complain the show encourages immorality yet have time to watch it and talk about some immoral scenes that occurred during the show. That's hypocrisy.

U say the show has nothing to teach our kids. Hello! The show is rated 18. That means it's not suitable for viewers under 18, and to the best of my knowledge anyone 18 and above is an adult and old enough to decide what they find suitable to watch or otherwise. So if u're too careless or ignorant to allow ur kids watch it u're to blame.

Before I continue, I'd like to make it clear I'm not speaking for or against the show, but I'm just trying to speak from a neutral perspective. I might sound like a fan tho' but that will be because all the cons of the show have been talked about but nobody seems to notice the pros, so I'm going to be focusing on it's pros; maybe not to u the viewers but definitely to the franchise and organizers.

U see, to appreciate the show, u need to appreciate the ingenuity, creativity and intentions of the organizers.

First and foremost is to make profit. He's a smart entrepreneur and he knows the idea or concept that will maximize profit for his biz and delved into it. He deserves some accolades.

Secondly, BBN in my opinion, is a social experiment to see how people truly are. The camera is on u 24/7 for 3 months. It's a reality TV show where some adults are kept in a house for 3 months. In this just concluded BBNaija 2019 season themed "Pepper Dem", 28 housemates all adults above 18, got into the house. 28 adults, male and female. They lived by some rules, but they also enjoyed some level of free will or better still, liberty. They were not told to have sex, neither were they told to.

Two housemates, Kaffy and Gedoni, were under massive fire for allegedly having sex, an accusation both denied. Kaffy claims she's been celibate for 8yrs now. Well, If truly they did, they are adults and had a choice. The truth is that they did whatever they did under the sheets and we can't prove beyond reasonable doubt they had sex, so I think they deserves some slacks or benefits of doubt. If u think otherwise, I'd like to ask, do u say it's an immoral show because out of 28 housemates, all adults, only 2 allegedly had sex under the sheets on live TV or because having sex outside wedlock is wrong? If ur reason is the former and u have ever had sex in ur closet where no one else saw u in the act, u are a hypocrite. The real man is who u are when nobody sees u. The real man is not who u are in the face of people. U act holier-than-thou in people's faces and in ur closet u're a terrible person, indulging in all sorts of immorality thinking no one sees u but forgetting God sees u. No, I rephrase, u know God sees u but u don't care. U still go through with ur act. My friend that attitude displeases God more than the one u even do in people's faces. That's why Jesus called such people hypocrites.

We don't give a fvck with your useless epistle.

So before u castigate the show or it's housemates; which u're free to do, first of all remove the log in ur eyes before u remove the speck in ur neighbour's eyes. That's the condition Jesus gave to be qualified to do that.
If ur reason is the latter, well fine, but who made u the judge. Judge not so that u will not be judged, for with the same yardstick u shall be judged.

Thirdly, the show is actually quite educating. Several educative presentations, quiz and challenges on health, government, culture, insurance, philosophy, science, geography, to mention a few, were observed in the house. Dramas/acting, puzzles, games, etc were also carried out. It's really appalling how people did not notice all that let alone learn one or two from them, but chose to focus their energy on housemates (all adults) that kissed, dressed indecently, drank, etc and say the show is useless.

Lastly, the show is for entertainment purposes. The organizers tried to give the viewers some entertainment in a span of 3 months, and they did. Over 240 million votes at N30 per vote! That's mind blowing. That's N7.2 billion in profit thru shortcode msgs. I'm pretty sure the brand will retain up to 60% of that sum after the telecom providers percentage is deducted and other expenses incurred in putting the show together. If it wasn't entertaining, I'm not sure it would have raked in such huge figures.

Once again, u say the show is a waste of time and Nigerians are jobless and u're glad the show is over. U speak like the time spent by Nigerians is the cause of our not being productive. U hear 240 million votes, u punch ur calculator, do the math and scream like anyone forced anyone to vote. Keep whining while the organizers smile to the bank. He's smart, he's a risk taker, he knows all we do is whine and find who to blame for our failure. He knows we're hypocrites and as such, come next year we will fall for the same product and the cycle continues. Instead of appreciating his ingenuity and learn from it, all we see are the bad sides of the show and nothing good.
U say why not organize an educative program like schools debate, etc instead of this useless show. Hello! Don't forget his priority is to maximize profits and he knows bulk of the Nigerian audience won't even tune in to watch educative programs because majority don't fancy them.

Yes I agree some immoral activities occurred but being in a house that long with camera on u 24/7 for three months is no joke. Ur true person will likely be revealed. In this last season of the show, 28 adults went into the house and only 2 out of 28 allegedly had sex, an accusation that is probably not true. Kudos to them because 26 were able to abstain while 2 are suspects.

Well I'm glad the show is over; at least for now. Let's see how productive we'll be as there's no distraction anymore.
