A video of an 8-year-old Nigerian girl, Shekinah, showing off her amazing boxing skills is currently trending on social media.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development of the Federal Republic Nigeria, Sunday Dare, coming across the video, revealed plans of the ministry adopting her and to make her a star that she is.

Sunday Dare on reposting the video on micro-blogging app, twitter, wrote;

The video of 8-year old Shekinah. Amazing stuff. Brilliant boxing Talent. The gold is in the Child. I spoke with her father Quadri in Lagos this morning and her Coach Sulaiman ‘energy’ to find out about her. We will follow her and get her adopted.

So she can decide for her self if she wants to be a boxer or not

This is funny and I bet mediocre minded and cowardly Nigerians which are unfortunately the majority would see nothing wrong with this.

1- dear minister, it is not the duty of your ministry to adopt talented kids from their parents.

2- dear minister, there are millions of extremely talented kids in Nigeria, will you adopt them too?

3 - dear minister, create opportunities for these children to grow and flourish. Create free and well maintained sport centers and recreational centers and create awareness for them so even children of the poor would know they are welcome to utilize those facilities.

4- dear minister, utilize part of your limited funding to grant sport scholarships to a select group of talented youths so they can still get education while pursuing their passion.

We don’t need you to be a parent, we need you to your jobs in a thoughtful and creative manner.
If all the ministry did their job, maybe we could’ve had a better Nigeria.

I remember the last i met with a boxer friend despite the blow he throw out i was able to tab him very well with some styles boxing didn't teach him.

I have reservation about this.

You’re thrusting and 8year old into a life she has no say in.

A life that brings out masculinity in her rather than feminism.

A life she may grow to detest later in future but will have little or no opportunity to change.

Why not let her grow like a normal child, then let her chose when she’s 16 if she want to continue with life in boxing.

You’re saying two different things at the same time.

Boxing is different from kickboxing.

Kick boxing is a downgraded version of karate and a modified version of boxing.

Kick boxing are using karate technics only the language is different, and better than boxing
