THE CONSCIENCE OF THE RIGHTEOUS.

Text: 1 Timothy 3:9


The English dictionary defines Conscience as a person's awareness of right aNd wrong with regard to his own thoughts and action.

Our Conscience works with the Spirit of God to keep us from offending him. The conscience of man is what make him different from animals.

A man's conscience can be ignorant, sleeping or dead, or it can ,be so sensitive that the moment you do anything wrong or you intend to do anything wrong. It will alert you immediately.

For us to understand the various types of conscience that people have and to be able to examine our own conscience which type we have and to know the kind of conscience a child of God ought to have, we have three points to consider.

1. THE NATURAL MAN'S CONSCIENCE

Do the unbelieving people have any check in their heart? If any wrong is going on, does God make use of the conscience of a natural man to get through the message of guilt and condemnation to him? Romans 2: 14, 15. This is telling us that even the gentiles have an idea of what is wrong or right. This means they by nature know the law of God. Once a man's conscience is not clear, his voice, facial expression and body movement will betray him. The conscience of a natural man is so quiet, silent and dead towards his own sin that he does not even realize he is a sinner. A natural man goes about applying the bible to the lives of others but not to himself. And until Jesus speaks out, the conscience of a natural man is never truly awakened. John 8:4-9.

Timothy 4: 1-2.

A man with natural conscience will call good evil and evil goods.

2. TRUE CONVERSION AND A SENSITIVE CONSCIENCE

The moment a man becomes bore again, his conscience becomes sensitive. Roman 9: 1 the holy spirit take care of the person's conscience if there is a danger, temptation or evil the holy spirit will alert the believer's conscience.
That makes the difference. A believer at this level doesn't tell lie or pretend anymore. Apostle Paul said “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not” Paul became very sensitive to the sufferings of others immediately he got converted. He even became so compassionate over the judgment of God which is awaiting sinners - let's see in another man how the conscience of a true child of God works.

1 Samuel 24:2-6

Here is how sensitive the conscience of the righteous is.
If you are really born again, your conscience must very sensitive apart from watching your own conscience, you even watch out that you do not offend the conscience of other. 1corintians 8:9-13.
