Hi.

I'm writing this short piece of article to help anybody overcome stage fright especially to reply the OP of this post:

appreciate001:
Hi Nairalanders greetings to you all. please can someone help me with solutions to this stage fright problem.
I Am in my late thirties married with children but this thing will not leave me alone. I have been battling with this all my life.
Just recently, I had a presentation to make but things were messed up because of this. I am a graduate but this is limiting my chances in life. What are the practical ways to overcome this problem? God bless you all.

I would really be sincere to anyone, the more prepared you are, the more confident you become, the less the stage fright. Even if you are more prepared and together are less confident, then you actually need to review something in and out about you.

Here is how I build my self-confidence:

1. I study confident people. Why? Some of these people affect me a lot 'cos their confidence could sometimes be contagious.
2. I watch seminars of my interests online and watch the hosts/speakers. I tend to focus on how they speak, move etc. I generally study them and even see if I can improve myself more on what I studied from them.
3. I shoot personal videos to train myself and say anything random or any topic as though I were been 'videoed' giving presentation before my audiences.

However....

Here are some helpful tips for you:
1. Psychologically speaking, see yourself the way your audiences see you. You only have to believe that you are confident and prepared to give your presentation. Seeing yourself the way others see you ensures the balance of your self-confidence. When you have a negative or wrong mindset that your audiences don't have about you, then comes the stage fright(I speak from experience and psychology). And your self-confidence become imbalanced.
2. Have a nice body language
3. Build your body physique by exercising 3-4 times a week(regularly). Exercise, by body fitness experts, is said to boost and improve confidence.
4. Move your body to declare and express yourself. It strikes and triggers impressions of your audiences. And yes, your body expression is directly proportional to your audience impression. By moving your body to declare yourself also means you're declaring self-confidence. There's no other way you can try to express confidence than the regular movement of your body.
5. Avoid unkempt hair and fingers.
6. Wear clothes that fits you properly.
7. Putting on body colognes that expresses who you are and what your personality is all about.
8. Have an appointment with your doctor. Simply consult your doctor to check your health. An health issue you might not be aware of may distrupt your self-confidence. Talk to your doctor about how you feel when you always have to give presentations on the stage. Most of them have medical solutions they can offer and/or proffer that could restore your health balance
9. Investing in, and wearing tolerated colognes boosts self-confidence and self worth
10. Have basic knowledge of what you really want to present.
11. Be yourself.
12. Believe in yourself.
13. Invest in yourself.
14. Develop positive feelings about yourself and about how others see you. (In line with tip 1)

All these increases your self esteem and prevents the chances of stage fright.
Also when giving some type of presentations, you might want to consider pausing after talking or giving your points; take a deep, gentle breath and breathe out(in a way that seems obvious to yourself and literally not to your audiences). By doing so you are relaxing your mind and refreshing your memory on what point you could give next.

If you experience stage fright, you absolutely need a coach that could build you up and encourage you. Your wife could also be the best option if she understands you. You need someone to be your coach, someone that understands you and not underestimate you. You can be your coach too.

Thanks

The two questions I would ask everyone
1. "is stage fright natural or unnatural to you?

2."You never did experience it, but now you find yourself experiencing such?"
