This is so sad. I have read a lot about the professor and the things he is doing in the Nuclear Atomic Energy Commission. Indeed he is an endangered specie and this is so sad for the country. Another professor that I know will take over him is Prof. Mattew Agu. OMG This is so sad. |

Agugbadin: You nairalander's love to argue without facts. You haven't even read about him, you haven't even handled a radioactive substance yourself. Quit this blind argument. Prof. is the present chairman of the Nigeria Nuclear Atomic Energy Commission. He spearheaded the development of the action plan on the development of Nigeria's nuclear power plant that is currently on going. He is the executive chairman of the ministry which is directly under the presidency. The professor was the lead project manager in the conversion of the research reactor in ABU zaria from highly enriched uranium (HEU) to low enriched uranium (LEU), a project that gulped $5m and done in the highest secrecy. Prof. delivered lectures at the international atomic energy agency (IAEA) around February and has been attending conferences. Now who are you? 1 Like 1 Share |

itsme01:Though we are synonymous to carelessness, and breaking down of protocols. However, the design and operation of Nuclear power plants are not same way as other poorly managed operations. In fact, even the Fukushima accidents has not done more negative impacts than the continuously daily oil spillages in South South that has continued to gulp trillions of naira and everyone is happy as long as it is "oil". A nuclear power plants are more secured than Aso Rock. Most accidents by on nuclear facilities has been as a result of natural accidents leading to tsunami. If built, Russians will continue to operate while a lot of Nigerians will receive high technical training in that area. Rosatom will operate it for many years and hand over to Nigeria. Many countries has a lot of Nuclear Plants, China is currently building 7 simultaneously, and South Africa is building one. |

We dont know health and safety. We dont care. I was at a gas station yesterdsy and the whole place was oozing gas smell.I told the idiot managing the place to check for leakage. And do you know what he said? He said 'God dey.Nothing dey happen.' I shook my head and drove off,so I dont become a victim of 'road that wants to suck blood' as one nairalander here has surmised. I am not surprised when I hear or see all these unnecessary deaths. Why should I be?We are surrounded by accidents waiting to happen.Infact the whole country is an accident waiting to happen. You got containers moving at high speed driven by underage lunatics, you got gas stations in residential areas with no regular checks to keep them on their toes. You got thousands of all this 'failures' around us. So why should I be surprised? Another day, another sad and unnecessary demise. |

Nukilia: Yes. Lol, I have read a lot about the research reactor in ABU Zaria and even followed up on their recent activities even the current plan for Nuclear powerplant. Though it is not a high energy research reactor but it operated a HEU prior to 2019 until it was converted to LEU. https://www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/nigeria-converts-its-research-reactor-from-heu-to-leu-fuel No one knows because our press is as bad as our health and safety measures. |

Nukilia:Ajaokuta was one of the project stalled and sold out by Atiku when he was the VP. He, alongside El-Rufia sold that, so even currently, it's not operational. One thing you should know about NPP is the sensitivity of it. It's unlike any other project you can think of. In fact, the safety measures taken into account during the design and development of a plane is nothing compared to that of a nuclear power plant. Nigerian government is not funding the entire project, Russians are. It's one of the things discussed in the last Russia China summit that the president went. Currently, Rosatom has gained Site permit for the installation of a power plant in Egypt. Stop looking at it with the eyes of things done in Nigeria. Even the workers in the site will undergo a lot of psychological and mental check in order to avoid compromise coming from within. It's that sensitive. |
Re: Simon P. Mallam, 5 Others Die In Kaduna Gas Explosion by mrphysics(m): 8:33am On Jan 05, 2020 |
Nukilia: All nuclear power plants or designs are press free. In fact, even government officials can't even go there anyhow without proper clearance. Ones a journalist is allowed into the site, he/she would never be allowed to go close to the reactor main building. Not even all nuclear scientists are allowed to go there except you are working there. We will be visiting some power plants soon and even powerful research reactors and our details (passport, ID cards, etc) has already been taken for proper security and background check. So take the press out of it, they won't really know the meat of it when it begins. |

itsme01:Very important. With vast lands, we shouldn't have people(or much people) living at 20km radius from the site. |

You mean to tell me that a Nigeria where nepotism has brought us on our knees A Nigeria where one Oga at the top phones the organizations boss to recruit his own relatives whether they're qualified or not. Just stop thinking like we are in an ideal society... |
