A teenager who was a contender for the British Olympics team in 2012 is starting a four-year sentence after admitting three cash van robberies Olu Oyewobi, 18, was described by his running club as "one of the top athletes for his age in the country". He excelled at 400m hurdles, but also ran 100m and 200m sprints. He and others attacked a security guard and stole a cash box containing £10,000 at Selco Building Suppliers in East London. But 15 months ago he was involved in a string of robberies and suddenly stopped training. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Olympics-Contender-Olu-Oyewobi-Locked-Up-For-Four-Years-After-Admitting-Cash-Van-Robberies/Article/201012415865023?lpos=UK_News_First_Home_Article_Teaser_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15865023_Olympics_Contender_Olu_Oyewobi_Locked_Up_For_Four_Years_After_Admitting_Cash_Van_Robberies |

Teenage issues are at play here. I will forgive an 18 year old mixed in this sort of thing. May be his mentors should be made to pay the greater part of the crime. He was used by grown men. |

ode remo: Age matters in issues like this. You don't know jack about his childhood and whether there is anybody at home to guide him on how to become a man. It doesn't make sense for a young lad like that with a promising career to meddle with armed robbery. |

Aloy_Emeka: Oh please don't give me that silly line about dady not been at home when he was young, many of us were raised by single mum and we stayed away from crime. Pple have used and still using that excuse to explain why alot of young pple and adult go around making life hell for individuals. He has a bright future, doing pretty well in sport, so its not as if he was idol, bored and got nothing to do, 18yrs of age is an adult in the UK, he did not only organised one arm robbery, he orgainsed THREE. There is no excuse here, kids/young pple get alot of help in the UK but for some of them committing crime is very attractive and a kind of certificate and something to boast about. |

He is old enough to know what is right from wrong and if guilty he should face the music. |
