This is not to lend any support to the opinion of some of my friends who would always have derogatory things to say about Governor Wike. I am a fan of Wike. But on this dusk to dawn versus 24-hour curfew, I think the Wike government is confusing itself and confusing us the people. Yesterday I watched the governor's broadcast in which he said dusk to dawn curfew, and today the government is saying it is a 24-hour curfew. Wike in my estimation is an intelligent leader, and so the actions of government in Rivers State should reflect the leadership of a man who really knows what he is doing. Moreover, while it is good to take extreme measures to protect the citizens from Corona Virus, it is as well important to know that it doesn’t make sense to protect your people from Corona Virus and then have the same people killed by hunger. After closing markets and imposing 24-hour curfew, the Wike government should as quickly as possible provide alternative solutions so that ordinary people in Rivers State will be able to buy foodstuffs and stay alive, because man is first of all an economic being - man must eat to live.
