Plot in a play deals with arrangements and selection of events in time and space. Once you have your story, how you arrange the happenings, deciding what to include and exclude matters a lot.

So, different playwrights may work on the same story but their end product will be different. So, playwrights don't tell stories, they build and scheme it to their 9wn and their audience's taste.
