Step 1: Get it scanned.

In addition to getting it scanned, run a fuel pressure test. Besides, it will help to know the exact repairs that has been done previously.

Could potentially be a kick starter motor issue, too?

Possibly. He will need a proper diagnosis since he said a lot of things has been done.

Explain step by step. Points to note, inability to crank, engine shutting off while in motion .

Re: Help!help!! On My ES350 by Mrford(m): 1:43pm On Apr 14, 2020
Did you ever scan it? Your mechanic will need to reproduce the problem. Then check for the presence of fuel, spark and air.

Meanwhile what have you done or changed?
Re: Help!help!! On My ES350 by 9icetoo(m): 4:55pm On Apr 14, 2020
1. Is the check engine light on when car in being driven? If yes, scan and post results.
2. Does engine shut down on its own sometimes?
3. If it does, does the car start right back or do you have to wait for a few hours?
4. When trying to restart car, does the engine crank (does it revolve)?
5. If it does revolve, is it fast or does it feel strained?
6. Can you get someone to check how hot the positive battery terminal is when attempting to restart car? If you can compare this to how hot it gets when engine can be started normally when cold.
7. Replace your ignition/starter motor relay. It's a cheap shot at resolving problem.
8. Is your AC on while attempting to restart engine? Consider turning it off if it is. I've encountered this problem before.
9. If none of the above resolves your problem, then the gurus here will most likely delve into fuel and electrical or electronic issues.
7.

Thanks for all this response, this is my first car and I don’t really know much ,I will show this to my mechanic and get a good response or tow it to Lagos and see if I can get help from the gurus here ....

1)The engine doesn’t shut down on it own and you can drive from Akure to Lagos without any issues but once you switched off the engine ,the chance of coming up is 50/50 and if I’m lucky enough to get it started, it is very certain it won’t work the next time,so basically I don’t switch off the engine except if I’m going to the mall or office and it is certain it won’t start until I give some time which might run up to hours at time .

2)yes the check light engine is on and Check VSC at the dash board ,it will be cleared once they scanned and do some repairs but shows up again after once I drive out

3)Yes the engine cranks

4) I could remember have changed the ignition starter and doesn’t solve the issues and most time disappoint my Mechanic after boasting everything is perfect and the vehicle failed to start during testing stage

This is the best I could remember and most high-tech Auto workshop in akure have worked on it without solutions and different scan have been done ...sad experience being my first car and it failed to start at my in-law house on my introduction day(embarrassment)

Pretty sure it's a wiring issue

clearer now. I think the immobilizer system is gradually failing.

Let the mechanic get the no-start issue to occur again. Then check for fuel supply while that is happening from the fuel hose. Hope no aftermarket security is installed on the car?

Yet people are blind and quick to condemn Peugeot vehicles as problematic, ignoring the fact that Nigerians do terrible things on their modern vehicles, not just Peugeots, and they quickly blame the brand or vehicle as the cause. This thread is just one of those that have proven even Nigerian Toyota users go through same headaches Nigerian Peugeot users experience when they mess up their vehicle systems.

Based on symptom you described, if it was Peugeot, I wouldn't bother much with scan, for it may not help in a case like this (not saying scanning shouldn't be done). Physical elimination or rule out will be my be focus by checking:

- Vacuum leak.

- Engine wiring connections.

- CTS.

- Cylinder reference sensor or synchronization with CKP sensor (Timing).

- Condition of Injection ECU.

Something is making ECU to lean out or inject excess fuel or cut off sparks in combustion chambers at high engine temperature, which is why it starts at cold temperature, but hard/non start at high. Ruling out the listed above will narrow the culprit (even though it could be elsewhere)

Since, you know nothing about cars, it's not something mere scan tool or guess work will detect. That car needs someone that understands how Toyota injection systems work to physically diagnose the car beyond scan tool. I am not that person. Find him or her. And stop wasting your time online trying to find opinions that could waste more money for you.

For those suggesting fuel pump/fuel pressure could be the issue, an EFI car engine that can run for hours without stalling but refuses to start immediately has nothing to do with fuel pressure or pump. For those suggesting starter issue, the symptom described didn't indicate crank issue at hot engine temperature. As for immobilizer suggestion, I have never seen immobilizer that chooses to activate only when engine is hot when faulty, as if it works with engine coolant and oil temperatures. To understand how modern car systems work, focus or spend more time on practical on Vehicles than online opinions. In some cases, they are two different worlds.

like I posted on the other thread,

Fentanyl:
even without seeing the author or that silly signature, I can almost always identify a post by the so called Peugeot "expert"

they are always lengthy, 40 lines or more

they are always self righteous and self promotional, always whining about me, me, me

he takes the contrary position on many issues not because he actually believes the rubbish he types, but because that is the only way he knows to attract attention

he never fails to insert himself into a scenario that has zero to do with him

his opinions are usually outlandish and pseudo intellectual

the man-child has some arrested development, since then he hasn't been the same
