Problem
As part of the measures to flatten the curve, most countries have adopted the lockdown approach which involves citizens staying at home in addition to social distancing and regular hand washing. This means no jobs, no income and hunger. In the developed nations, there are systems in place to ensure that relief aid gets to citizens but in Africa, it is a different ball game entirely. Nigeria has a huge amount of informal workforce, those who rely on daily wages. If these people do not work, they don’t eat. The lockdown has begun to take a toll on citizens and we are beginning to see a surge in crime due to hunger.

Why
As the lockdown continues there’s an eminent challenge for food and nutrition security, especially in low and middle-income communities. This puts the vulnerable groups (women esp. pregnant women, children and the elderly) at risk in most communities already. We aim at reaching 10 communities from Lagos including other states across the country.
