MrMagnetic:
@OyoTunjiUSA

I will be attending a conference in October 2025. I want to book an appointment date, and I'm seeing dates from June 2025.

My question is this:
Should I choose a date that's two or three months before my expected date of travel? Or should I choose one month to the date or even a date in the same month of my travel?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. The appropriate month to attend your visa interview would be August/ Early Sept. One or two months is okay to prepare for your travel.

2. You may however chose a date in October but give at least 2 weeks interval before the conference day.

Between 6.3am and 10.30am, which time is the best? I can see that available slots are many (40) in the early morning times. And drops to 8 slots from 8.00am.

Good morning house

I am trying to renew my B1/B2 visa via dropbox option. But the appointment dates I am seeing are as far as Sep 2024. Are dropbox appointments (to drop off documents) usually that far, or have I done something wrong. I cant get any phone number to call US consulate to even talk to customer care.

Please help.

Many thanks

Hello.

To answer your questions, you havent done anything wrong and this is now the situation with dropbox appointments.

The last time I checked which was around February, the available appointment dates were in July.

Guess its now in September.

Goodluck!

Thank you!

September is later than my intended date. Is it possible to change the DHL location? I chose VI initially. Is it possible that Surulere or Isolo will have earlier appointment dates?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. I would pray (as a religious person) for God's direction towards appropriate hours, munites, and seconds which would be favorable to my visa success .

2. Some would say visa officers would have been exhausted by noon but that's just a reasonable logic.

Good evening

Please how do I get an appointment for B1/B2 in Abuja? Its been showing no appointment available since two weeks ago. I even tried Lagos. I need to attend a training in July, the problem is that the date was not stated on the invitation letter. Would I still be able to do emergency appointment?

Please help with any useful information you may have. Thank you.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Be careful with that (your) invitation letter ! No reasonable, valid and genuine training invitation letter will come from USA without a commencement and ending date. At worst, it must display a start date if the graduation / rounding off date is not certain

2. That aside . Your only life-line is to apply for an Emergency Appointment (under Business Emergency ) with your training invitation letter, evidence of payment for the training and hotel reservation (or accomodation evidence) .

3. You however need to be granted an initial interview appointment slot (be it 2025) in your cgi portal before you can initiate the emergency application.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Qualification for Visa emergency appointment at the USA embassy falls under 3 categories Viz ;. Student ... Business ..and Medical .

2. Let's say you fall under Business category , you still have to meet certain conditions. And one of the conditions is that your attendance in the conference must be very very relevant to the conference organizers .

3. The relevance of the conference to you does not matter , but the relevant of your attendance matters . For example , Are you one of the speakers in the conference ? Will they continue the conference if you did not get the visa ? Are they going to lose certain amount of financial gains if you did not attend ? Etc .

4. If you want to meet the above requirements , let the conference organizers state it in your invitation letter and use the letter to apply for your emergency Appointment.

All glory to God for meeting you here.

Please my brother got married to a US lady last year and moved to the US with her.

He is yet to get his complete papers. The only thing he has now is a working permit.

My question is this;
1. Can he invite me and my wife over, or must it be his wife who is a citizen?
2. Between my brother and his wife, who is the best person to invite us.
3. We are not planning to come back oh. At least not for now. What kind of visa would we be applying for?
4. We don't have any travel history, will this hinder us?

Please everyone is welcome to contribute. God bless u all

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. The best person that can invite you over is still your blood relative but its too early for him to invite you and your wife over because he just arrived and have not gotten his own foot settled on the USA ground .

2. However, the best gimmick for you to use is to let the family of the wife (your American inlaws) invite you and your wife ( as the representatives of the Nigeria families) officially to the USA on the basis of inter-family / cultural assimilation meetings.

3. Travel history does not matter in this case because you have been mandated /invited to attend an inter-family matter which if not attended to might collapsed a marriage (that's how you should make the letter looks like).

Thanks for this.

I just need a some clarity on the following.

1. If we go for the inter family visa, will this serve our purpose as we have no intention of returning?

2. I missed out an important detail earlier. The lady he is married to is of a Nigerian decent. She was born in US. She has never been to Nigeria though. They met in UK.
Will this inter family awareness visa still work? Since we are all Nigerians?

2. If we want to wait for like 4 years for my brother to gain his grounds, what kind of visa are we going to be getting?

3. Can we get a job with any of the visas in questions 1 and 2 above?

Thanks
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Opeyemi007: 7:48am On Apr 07
Good Morning. Thereโ€™s nothing like Inter-family visa, it would still be a B2(Tourism). You canโ€™t legally stay there using your B2 visa, your visa would expire at some point, and using the rule of thumb, youโ€™re not supposed to spend more than six months per visit.

In four years time, it would still be a B2 visa, unless you get employed by an American company(HIB) or a student visa.

Hey ๐Ÿค

*** As @Opeyemi007 has corrected you, there is nothing like inter-family visa. Cool down and go back to re-read my opinion.

1. You came out straight with your intention of not returning back to Nigeria soon, hence i gave you the idea that your brother" s wife family (inlaws) in America can write a letter to you and your wife (as a representative of your own family) for a conference among the two families (inter-family discussion ) about their marriage .

2. In specific term, the Visa you and your wife would be applying for is B2 visiting visa and presently , you can look for jobs with the B2 visa .

3. Aside of the fact that the lady has not visited Nigeria before , she is also a real and bona-fide USA citizen by birth . Therefore , if you want to follow my plan then the lady''s family can invite your family over to the USA for mutual family discussion . It will work fine if you plan it well.

4. If you want to wait for like 4 years for your brother to gain ground very well in the USA that's fine, but you are still going to apply on the same B2 visiting visa . If before then your brother's wife give birth to a baby and you want to attend the naming ceremony in America, its still same B2 visa every or any of your family that is going will apply for.

Again can my 3rd class degree from nigeria here secure a good job?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. My friend nobody works inside embassy here . I (especially) am just giving you opinions based on personal researches and experiences. If you are afraid of being rejected (a visa) then better not apply at all. Use your 700k to invest in a good business . Nigeria is endowed with good population (which is a solid background for business success).

2. The family discussion plan is my own idea, not a USA embassy policy. You can look out for other opinions .

Let me make the truth plain to you.
If you travel on a tourist visa which is B1/B2 and decide to stay back. You will be an illegal immigrant for life!! You will not be able to get a job that can feed and pay your rent. The person inviting you can only accommodate you for a while then you are on your own in the streets.

Also if you don't have a good job that can comfortably sponsor a holiday for both you and your wife, please do not apply cos the possibility of rejection is high.

If you want to travel for migration purposes, then try other countries. US is the toughest when it comes to migration. It used to be easy 15yrs ago but not anymore.

Abeg, no go waste your 700k for nothing.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Yes . Fill another DS 160 and after final submission you have to update it in your cgi profile and re-print your appointment letter in order to display the confirmation number of the new updated DS 160.

2. The documents you will be taking to the embassy depends on what you are going for. Nobody can tell you that except he or she knows what you are visiting the USA for.

Whatever you think can help you. Just remember everything you wrote in your ds 160 form. Most questions will come from there. They rarely ask for account statement. You can print 6months and take with you.

The most important thing is what you are going there to do. Family ties back in Nigeria. If your pay can actually finance your trip. Once they are satisfied with this then you are good to go.
So look at your circumstance and answer the above questions.

Embassy in Nigeria or ??
If in Nigeira, she will get it soon. It shouldn't last more than a week. Some two days it depends. You can check her portal for update.

Can I fill another DS160 to update my status before the date or Iโ€™m not allowed to change anything?

I don't think it is necessary. Since your interview will be based on the ds 160 you filed. You can tell them during the interview about the changes.

Hello House,i have 2 quick questions.

1. When completing ones IVR, there is a part that asked "if you have been denied visa within 12months under the same visa class''. Last year i applied for tourism and i was refused under B1/B2 and now i am applying for conference. Does conference B1 belong to the same visa class? And do i have to click on the box or opt for the none of the above?

2. when you are applying for a B1 visa for a conference. If approved, will you be issued a 5yrs B1/B2 visa?

Please tick yes to the question. Also don't make the same mistake twice.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Do you want to be refused permanently via negligence ? Choose between filling another DS 160 form for 2 hours and having your visa permanently refused ?

2. Go and fill another DS 160 and input those changes including your new salary as well as your new travel itinerary. After that update your DS 160 via your profile and re-login to print out a new appointment letter after 3 days.

3. On the day of your interview . Take note. You don't tell or answer the questions that a consular officer did not ask you. If you do that it means you have memorized what you wanted to say or you want to trick the consular via talking . You can only stylishly do that in a related way.

I hope you realise that his 221g to show up for an interview was issued based on this DS-160 and you want him to go and change it. Why canโ€™t he get there and use his mouth to mention to the Visa officer these changes he stated here instead of complicating issues? If there was no 221g on that ds 160 then itโ€™s good he can change whatever.
