Good morning.

My visa interview that was meant to hold today was rescheduled to November and the Convention that I need to attend is in July. I didn't see the mail about the interview being rescheduled until today when I got there.

1. Do I qualify to get an emergency appointment?

2. Do I need to pay another visa fee to get an emergency appointment?

3. Even if I have to wait till November, the ds 160 form has been submitted. The reason for travel will no longer be valid by November. How do I go about the application then?

4. I would really love to attend this July. Is there a way around it?

Thanks guys for all the information you dish out here.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Soludonido: 12:47pm On May 14
I applied for a medical emergency date for my daddy, but I got an email that it was denied because I did not provide the DS-160 confirmation page. I tried submitting it with the right documents but I could not find “Request for emergency request on his portal so I used the “Provide feedback option and also sent the request via emails too. Please what can I do? His travel is very urgent for medical. I believe they would have approved it if DS-160 page was provided.

Goodmorning All.
I'm a state of confusion, I don't know if I should apply for a visa to attend conference or just a visit visa to USA. Please which do you think is easier?
My elder is based in USA and really want me to join him.
I tried applying for student visa for Canada and USA but it didn't work out.
Looking forward to your kind response. Thank you.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Tamison: 4:34pm On May 14
Good evening everyone.
Please I need clarification on US Visa interview waiver. The website says one is eligible if a visa expired 48 months ago or in the next 3 months. Now, my mom's visa expires on the 31st of July, I just got a drop-off date of July 1 in Abuja. On the confirmation print out, it only says visas expired not more than 48 months ago and not the 3 months. Do you think there will be an issue with the renewal because of this? We usually use Lagos but I went with Abuja this time because of availability of dates. Has anyone successfully renewed in Abuja using the interview waiver? Does it really take 2 months? I hope to hear from someone soon.
Thank you.

Hey 🤠

1.

Change in local call center number format
Effective January 1, 2024, the local Nigeria call center number 23412278955 new format will = be 2342012278955.

The Nigeria Communication Commission introduced a '02' prefix to fixed line numbers, increasing the format of the local call center number from 8 to 10 digits.

1. Medical Emergency Appointment request denied as a result of lack of DS-160 is kind of not right to me, but if you received the email personally (not that an agent or someone forwarded it to you) then may be.

2. Naturally, MRV , USA contact hospital (doctor/specialist) invitation letter , Nigeria hospital (doctor/specialist) referral letter and payment (hospital bills deposit ) receipts are the documents i thinks are sufficient to request for a Medical Emergency.

3. I might get the call number for USA based callers for you but you may ask a family member to use the new call number i provided to call the cgi team first.

4. But let me be honest with you. it seems you re going to get another MRV for Daddy because once the Emergency Appointment Option disappeared it's not coming back again.

1. Yes you are qualified (If you have not b4).

2. No. Your visa fee (MRV) is still valid.

3. If you want to wait till November then find a related conference (coming up in the USA by Nov / Dec 2024 . * Or Look out for a 2-weeks short trainings that is related to your jobs or business , coming up in Nov/Dec or January 2025 and apply. * Then fill another DS -160 form and update it in your cgi profile after which you will need to print out a new visa appointment letter from your cgi portal.

4. Yes there is a way round .

check ethiopian airlines, flys to dulles also called IAD.

Chaiii thank you so much, this is very painful! Why do we get just 1 emergency request after paying that amount for visa fee. My dad get cancer which his treatment is in June 27 2024 but his interview date is September 2025(tears) we provided everything you listed but just the DS-160 which the embassy confirmed too. I paid for 520k for both my mom and dad. Now paying the same fee again and the embassy said even if I paid for another visa fee, I am still not eligible for another emergency request.

I just checked my mom portal and saw that she still has her “Emergency request” and I also found out that it was her DS-160 that was invalid because it had the old DS-160 and not the new one(I forgot to update it while scheduling) Can I use her emergency request button and apply for both her and my dad? Thanks
When did you get the refusal? Explore the option of waiting 24-48 hours to see if it’ll pop up again. Sorry about this situation

Hey 🤠

1. No !. You cannot use mummy's appointment for popsy. Daddy is the Principal applicant. Therefore, don't tamper with mum's cgi for now , let's focus on dad.

2. You have to pay another MRV for dad but call the cgi 1st .

3. Besides, you actually provided wrong DS 1-60 confirmation. Perhaps you or the person who handled the initial request lacks adequate knowledge of the policy.

How do I update my dependents confirmation page on the appointment schedule?[/quote]

This is what you should do... Update your dependant Ds 160 form cos I was told it's valid for 6 months. I updated mine and taught it was not necessary but when I called the embassy I was advised to update my dependants too. When that is done put a call across they will help you update your dependant on cgi portal so each will have a letter of appointment. I hope dis answered your question.

Good morning everyone!

I need your help with deciding the best visa category to apply for. I have been talking to a lady from United States for over 3yrs now, we met in Dubai in the second year and got engaged.

I have been denied the student visa two times in 3yrs. She is talking about sending a visa invitations to apply for visitors visa. Do I stand a chance in this visa category?

Hello all,
I have never travelled before. Someone (a family friend) in US wants to give me an invitation to come over, he outrightly told me that inviting me is not a problem. That's it's me convincing them at the Embassy to give me Visa that's the challenge. I am married, a father of 4, under 40. I have been working since Nov 2014. I intend going alone first, and honestly I would want to stay over and look for a better job there. I have M.Eng.

How do I go about this using the Visitors route via our family friend(he's up 60+, and lives with his family).
I want to really give it a try. What chances do I have?

I am so sorry if my enquiry is awkward please. Just advise me

Your chance of getting your visa approved is equals to your chance of not getting the visa approved. It’s either or.
You are judged based on your profile and not someone else’s profile. Invitation letters don’t contribute to your profile.
When you fill your DS160 form make sure it is weighty and you can easily speak about it.
The embassy is more interested in you demonstrating you will return to Nigeria. That is what would get your visit visa approved. Good income. Good investments or career. Family ties to Nigeria.
As a married man with kids, your options of changing status from visit visa to one that will give you legal residence is either education, asylum, sham marriage or business investment. All of which except asylum are expensive. The idea of staying over and going first shows immigration intent. Each option has implications to your family.
If you can ace your interview, you don’t need anyone in the US or you should make the friend your Plan B. Even his statement in bold tells you a lot.

I and my wife are both in US, doing our PhD. She is having a high risk pregnancy. We are trying to get my mom to join weeks before delivery. (We started our adjustment of status for green card, mine was approved and my wife is still awaiting decision). Mom’s de-160 was filled that we are both on F1 then.

The earliest date we secured for her appointment is Next year May. Our plan is to have her in around September. We have all pregnancy records and letter from the gynecologist attesting to the high risk pregnancy.

We are trying to secure a closer date, what other documents do we need, what content should be in write up… what advice would you give?

Thanks.

I submitted my passport for dropbox last month, when i tracked my visa status, its say there was an update on the 14th of this month, but its still saying application received.

How long does dropbox take? My dropbox renewal is always 1 to 2 weeks, but this one is taking so long.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by oluezekiel(m): 10:58pm On May 17
It is not a straightforward situation, but it can be.
I submitted my AOS earlier in 2023 and had even received my EAD before my parents went for their B1/B2 visa interview in August. But their interview was tied to them attending my graduation (completed my PhD in 2023) in the same year. They were questioned about my program (school, major, degree level etc.) and how long I have been in the States. My mom mentioned that the VO even googled my name on my school website to be sure. They both got their visa.
I believe it all depends on how she can tie her visit to an event that would not have anything to do with your (and your wife’s) status. An event that won’t raise concerns about your F-1 status. Look for a good/convincing reason why she should be allowed to visit you.
Best of luck!

Hey 🤠

@soprano008.

** Pls don't contact that responder @oluezekiel . He will eventually defraud you . His modus operandi is to always be or have been in your position (of help) before and he is always in AMERICA doing fake PhD.

** Okay did he answer your initial questions in his story ? Below is your major question and concern ;

We are trying to secure a closer date, what other documents do we need, what content should be in write up… what advice would you give?

** Also quoting @oluezekiel, he wrote that ;

My mom mentioned that the VO even googled my name on my school website to be sure. They both got their visa.

1. @soprano008. How did his aged mother knew that the consular Googled his name ? Did the consular turned their computer to his mother ?

2. Google cannot even bring up your name except if you are a world criminal , celebrities or very important personalities etc. What the consular can usually do is to login into your Host-University portal for verification.

3. I have attached some of his past dubious conversations in this message, right from the years he was scamming people as Access bank agent. He is always in the position of everyone seeking help or he knows a friend or family who has done it before .

4. Run away from any one who starts conversations with his or her own story (bragging). Someone can be in Maiduguri -Nigeria and have higher USA visa knowledge than someone with expired visa living in a borrowed apartment in Washington DC.

1. Your mom should be fine with securing a Medical Emergency Appointment under B2 and eventually secure her visa if everything is placed in order .

2. If your gynecologist could affirm to the High-risk pregnancy of your wife with (via official clinic letter ) a written evidence , then try to seek the main hospital or clinic to affirm to the same and let them address the letters to the USA embassy in Lagos /Abuja.

3. You should find your way to talk to the gynaecologist and the hospital to make the letter a stronger and convincing one and align the contents to your advantages .

4. You will also write a personal letter (addressed to the USA consulate but inviting your mother ) explaining the scenario in brief and let the letter indicates that you do not trust external care giver to handle your wife's situation....etc

5. Combine those letters with your school identifications , I 20s etc and send to your mother via electronic mail. She will use it to apply for Medical Emergency under B2.

6. On the day of Mama's interview, teach her to be very emotional and even cry in the presence of the consular that she (your mom) doesn't want her daughter in law and her 1st grand kid to die .

7. Forget about your ongoing adjustment of status for green card. You are both legal in the USA and as a prospective professors , you (and your wife) are resources to America.

1. Don't mind your friend in America. He may have a good heart but the probability of embassy giving you visa based on a friend (even your family) invitation letter is 10% over 100.

2. If he is about to do wedding, naming ceremony or inviting you on joint-business sight seeing then the visa probability might move upward .

3. You have a good family-tie in Nigeria and with M.Eng you are a better educated Nigerian.

4. Look out for a good conference in your area of career and apply to . OR short academic programs in the USA then talk to your friend to support you financially.

5. Abadon that letter of invitation route and work out on the number 4 above. Don't even mention in your USA visa applications that you know/have a friend in the USA . Only mention family member (s) who entered America legally and remain in the USA legally.
