Please I have a question.

If you engage the services of a programmer or web designer and you aren't satisfied with him afterwards and want to pay him off amicably.
How do you ensure he doesn't harm your site or have extra unknown access to it thereafter?

And how do you ensure he hands over all login details etc?

Ask him for your hosting and registrar logins then change the password and remove his emails, ask for your wordpress admin login and Cpanel login change the emails also, go to your WP installation dashboard on Cpanel remove his email address as the admin email, then you should be fine ......

Make him understand you're willing to pay him off on the condition that he'll surrender everything in his care pertaining to the site. This includes domain registrar details, Webhost details, GSC if the login detailes are new, theme or template login purchase, if possible and change all usernames and passwords immediately particularly usernames that allow email addresses.

For the site, it is recommended you set a 2FA to prevent unauthorised access. Wordfence allows this for free.

Modified:

In response to the clown below, contumely, it is important you set up a 2FA to prevent unauthorised access. You alone know the 2FA and since it isn't one, it is impossible to get locked out... And in the event that you do, you can always log in to your cPanel and take down the security plugin.

Make sure you get as much information on him just in case because Ppl can be stupid, ask him for all the logins related to your website, domain and hosting logins ooo then change all the password and emails! Note: Don't create any useless 2FA on your website using any plugin you could get locked out!

So many funny comments... There's nothing u can do, since u hired a developer to work for you then I'm pretty certain ur not very versed, tell him you want full access to everything and ur thinking of using another developer (can lie it's ur nephew).

Else tell him to migrate it to another server of your choice and pay him off
