February 2017, I was at FC Ifeanyi Uba Nnewi to watch the CAF confederations Cup match between FC Ifeanyi Uba and AL Masry of Egypt.
The regular tickets for the match sold for ₦1000.
I made a mental note of the fact that people stood outside the stadium waiting for the gate to be thrown up.
The reason is not because they don't have the money, the reason is because they feel it is not worth it.
They feel that since Sen. Ifeanyi Uba is a billionaire, allowing fans to watch matches for free is what he can afford.

The Godswill Akpabio international stadium has a 30,000 capacity seater.
The only time you will ever get to see football fans in their numbers in that stadium is when the Super Eagles are playing.
Akwa United and Dakkada FC barely manage to have 1000 fans in that same stadium for NPFL games

The point is this, most Nigerians including me, are averse to the culture of paying for premium contents they consume.
To watch Arsenal play a game in the premier league as an adult will cost you £97 that's the equivalent of ₦47000.
Many of us watch these games for ₦100 or ₦200 but anytime DSTV increases it subscription rate, they are heckled and call them all sorts of names.
We would rather download songs from blogs than stream it online.
We complain that Nigeria league clubs don't play players very well, yet the only time we watch games is when the gates are thrown open.
We would rather download movies online or buy it at upper Iweka for ₦100 instead of paying for it through the right medium.
We don't want to pay for all these things, yet we place high expectations on the producers of these arts.

Till we change our mindset and begin to pay the price for these contents we should come off the high horse of huge expectations and entitlement.
