Hello Nairalander
These days going to the banking hall seems to be an extreme Sport. We have to wait at the gate for several hours before we are allowed to enter the bank premises and then having to sit for hours before you're allowed into the banking hall. A lady almost fainted this morning after waiting on a never ending queue for a long period of time.

I could remember how customers stormed bank premises trying to gain entrance immediately after partial lifting of the lockdown due to Corona Virus pandemic with many not being able to resolve the issues with their accounts. At this age I believe most Nigerian banks should start thinking towards innovating their banking services in order to make life much easier for their customers and staff.

They should create a platform where customers can to open new account and submit all necessary documents through the internet without having to visit the banking hall just like I did last week with FCMB Online account opening and getting my account number immediately.

With the use of artificial intelligence banks can create AI bots that can respond to customers using different social media platforms with real-time responses. I believe Nigerian banks can do these and improve on their services.

What are your recent experiences in a bank premises and how do you think it can be avoided using online banking technology? Share your opinion

Going to bank now is stress. You have to wait outside before you're allowed to enter inside. The customer service sometimes is terrible slow wish they could be a better alternative to account opening.

Just package yourself, carry small bag and tell the security at the gate you are heading to the bulk room. thank me later

Online banking is surely the best form of banking in times like these, it's quite unfortunate most people don't know much about it and would prefer to stress themselves going to the bank hall. lipsrsealed

sometimes I wonder what we are banking when we can't even access the bank easily, you hustle to put your cash and suffer to make withdrawal, to make the matter worst, most bank staff will still treat you like you came to beg for arms.

Cant remember the last time I went to a bank though. When a lot of virtual banks are out now and even the too banks have seamless mobile banking platforms. I'm enjoying my own bank as it is even.

I don't think opening an account now requires your presence in the banking hall. With FCMB online account opening you can open an account using your phone and get your account number instantly. Don't think any other bank can beat that at the moment.

You can apply for the card to be sent to a branch near you.

Nice one, it's good people know this cos the way most banks are choked up after this lockdown is alarming, making the whole idea of the lockdown futile

you won't blame them, sometimes people tend to trust the physical customer care more, moreover that will also be dependent on the the type of transaction, you might be able to open an account online but can you also make a deposit online?

This is a great idea, I think CBN should enforce a law that makes online banking compulsory in all banks. It's a lovely thing to see banks like FCMB take this bold step

If this is for real, then FCMB has really outdid themselves.

So I went to a bank (which I won't be disclosing its name) due to their RRR issues, on getting there I only saw a really long line, and I was like "ah! These people wey wan use ATM go suffer today o", as I tried to fight my way through the crowd with my face mask strongly fitted to my nose, I could hear people trying to protest, the security approached me and told me to join the queue, I told him I don't plan on making a withdrawal via the ATM machine.

He then told me the queue was for those who are going into the banking premises, that was when it dawned on me, that it was going to be a long day. I ve never seen so much crowd in a bank before, and I also noticed people taking off their mask to chitchat... To cut the long story short, two aged women collapsed, after about four (4) hours of waiting, we were told they won't be able to attend to everyone anymore, the crowd was already pulling together for a protest.

At this point it dawned on me I ve survived the lockdown, and it's pointless joining the crowd, i had to go back home without achieving my aim for today. The experience was unforgettable and very bitter.

I do ve a mind boggling questions

What are the requirements for opening the FCMB Account ? Cause I don't plan on going through the stress I had today, or even experience such unpleasant situation.

Sorry about your ordeal, it is the effect of the lockdown.

I will advise you to open an account with FCMB, I currently just opened a functioning account with the bank, without having to visit any of their premises.

Though I ve no idea how they get the ATM card to their customers. I will be chatting their AI bots on WhatsApp for enquiries about the card.

UBA once introduced an AI chat bot called Leo, so I believe CBN should make it compulsory for all Banks to employ the use of this in a way, it can so open account for customers.

@OP the FCMB you mentioned, that bonus of 1k received for opening an account, is it available for instant use or do I ve to credit my account before I can make use of it?

For me it's Mobile banking over all these long queues. Didn't even think it twice when my friend told me about FCMB and the fact that I'll get 1k upon opening an account. I didn't dull and I'm enjoying the experience.

Ok thanks. Another quick question, are there limits to the amount of transaction that can be carried out on this account?
