Hello everyone, so before I give a break down of today's farming activities, I think I should drop more information about the land.. The proposed cassava capacity to be farmed locally here is called ULA anf we farming 20 ULA... An ULA is basically 400 heaps so that means the farm land will contain a total of 8,000 heaps and we plan to plant 2 cassava stem per heap... So I think that should give u guys a basic idea of land size... It's almost an hectare.......
why 2 stems per heap?
Re: My Cassava Farming Dairy As A Total Beginner by officialfestus(m): 6:07pm On Jul 06, 2020
willybaby:
In planting cassava stems there's a rule to be followed, you need to observe the stem to see how it grows before it's deeped into the heap the growing up part should face up it not when germinating starts your cassava would grow upside down
we bury the stems

with ridges or heap it's a little bit easier to harvest, and also application of fertilizer is easier too.. this are the advantages I can think of but ridges, heap or flat soil the yield is believed not to be affected

due to the large number of labour available at the location of the farm, clearing, heaping and planting is been done simultaneously meaning freshly cut cassava stem is planted increasing chances of growth and high yield..

OP great threads. I am in Anambra. Do you have any tips for finding and hiring farm labour including farm manager. How much are farm managers paid?

I hope you have something in place to checkmate the menace of the omnipresent Fulani's and their cows.

good morning my only tip is fraternize with the villagers/local well, because they are the once who would tell you how tinz are done in there area, pay them instantly after they work for you also.
in the area of paying your manager I think that's between you and him or her..

Common sense advice, but the problem is knowing which villagers to trust.
Do mind explaining exactly how you hired your labour and how much or how you pay your farm manager?
