Having dominated the Jonathan administration to the exclusion of other ethnic nationalities, the Igbo political elite could not cope with the defeat of Jonathan. They were like fish out of water- their survival was in danger. Most of them became millionaires and billionaires during Jonathan administration. They were fully in charge and they never anticipated the defeat of Jonathan's political party, PDP.

From 1979 to 2015, the Igbo political elite were ally of the Hausa/Fulani hegemony. They were part and parcel of the government apparatus. They were comfortable working with the Hausa/Fulani clique. They did not see themselves as Fulani slaves.

However the emergence of Yoruba- Hausa/Fulani alliance jolted the Igbo political elite. They became uncomfortable. They could not adjust to the new Political climate. Rather than play a constructive opposition they decided to bring down Buhari government or at worst set the country on fire and bring about its disintegration.

The instrument to use was thus created: Ipob. Ipob was Igbo political class response to the defeat of Jonathan's party in the presidential election. Ipob was not created to achieve Biafra. It was designed and structured to cause chaos and crisis in the country.

While Buhari government has its faults, Ipob should not be the go - to group for solution to the problems bedeviling the country. Ipob is part of the problem facing the country.

I think their backgrounds don't accommodate dissenting opinions.
If they give IPOB their Biafra today, it will be an authoritarian State like North Korea where people that express contrary opinions and/or dissenting views will be labeled 'traitors' and executed.
During the Civil War, those who were perceived to have contrary opinions from that of Ojukwu like Ifeajuana and Banjo were framed-up as traitors and murdered by firing squad.
Minorities and even some Igbos who were deemed unsympathetic to the Biafran course were called 'Sabos' and were sometimes murdered. Some were buried alive.
