I have seen a case where bride price was more expensive than the all the expenses of the traditional marriage simple because the gurl had a double Master's Degree

Igbo custom don't recognize marriage certificate from zoo government, No family in Igbo land can consider what you do with their daughter as marriage without paying bride price of their daughter, neither can your kinsmen consider your wife married without you as man pays bride price of your woman. Is only mugu they can tell that married couple cannot travel without marriage certificate. am not saying is not important but don't bring government to Igbo custom. every tribe on earth have custom why is it that we westernizing everything concern igbo custom.

I don't see how the FG can come in, in the case of traditional marriages, the exorbitant charges / fees as described by you, aren't uniform across tribes / cultures.

I believe this is what State Houses of Assembly, Chieftaincy, Town Union & LG Affairs Ministries in states, State Governments and Socio-cultural organizations e.g. Ohaneze Ndigbo, can champion.

For now bro, marry girl wey you fit fulfill her marriage rites. Dem nor dey force person marry from a particular ethic group.

Will they also look into the rate Nigerians spend fortune in the name of throwing high class weddings?
My own be say if I am ready to marry, I will go and meet her parents and collect the traditional marriage list. On the day of the traditional marriage, I will give them the most important things in the list and tell them I will complete the remaining later. If they refuse to give me my wife, I will not argue with them. I will just go home and impregnate the lady in question. Na dem go beg me to come marry am.

Bros that's dangerous in some tribes. In Ogoni in Rivers state, if you like pregnant her 10 times. The children won't be yours and you will pay heavily for that. While in Akwa Ibom/Bayelsa , if such a woman dies , you must marry her dead body. And the marriage could lead to some spiritual matters . So you better pick the lady you know you can afford her bills and marry for once.
