You know how many hundreds of millions of dollars it would have cost the economies of those universities and the communities hosting the schools in lost rents, lost feeding costs, lost utility bills, lost enrolments, etc? Is it people living on $1200 handouts from government that would populate those places? Education is a multi-billion dollar industry. Take away physical foreign education and the economies of UK, US, Malaysia and other places would collapse.

Ghana here has close to 240,000 Nigerian undergraduate students paying school fees in US dollars. Even at $500 per semester, that comes to close to $120 million flooding Ghana every three months. Something Nigeria is losing out of big time.
