There are times when someone is full of life and smiles one second, and the next second is just devastated. I felt something like that today, and it took me by surprise. Because of the entire lockdown stuff, and my overcautious nature, I haven't been to the salon to Barb my hair since I got back from Uni in March, and I was already rocking the old school afro with style, enjoying the full hair look that I was coming to accept. But today being Sunday, I decided to take the opportunity to Barb my hair and get back to my regular afro look (the new style afro with shaved sides and back), so I went to a new barber around my place @ home and I showed him my style, even showing him the pictures I took after barbing some times ago to make sure he understands the style Wella. Bad man said no problem na, so I took off my glasses and balanced in the seat like a chiarmo, first off, he started around the sides and he did not do too bad there, he went too low, but who cares right, it's just the sides. I was expecting the bad guy to trim the hair on my head slowly, letting me gauge when the volume was okay, but to my shock, the guy just took the clipper and gave me a wonderful parting in the hair, like there was no difference from the height of the hair and the lowcut we used to Barb while in sec school. I just looked up and I saw my hair divided in two at the middle, and I felt myself lose all the energy in my body. I shouted at the barber, and he just gave me that 'im sorry' look and told me not to worry. The entire fight went out of me, I just sat there in a daze while he went to work on my hair, he turned my full hair into an abominable looking lowcut. Everything just seemed like a movie on fast-farward and when he was done I just sat there looking at the stranger in the mirror. I have never felt the despair I felt when I saw the way he barbed it, I realized how much I missed having my barber in Uni, where I could just walk in and snooze on the seat and still get my hair done perfectly. And today is Sunday, so I can't go to the market to get a cap to cover the mess on my head. Advice is desperately needed, abeg.
