RIVERS STATE APC...

COMMUNIQUE

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State met today, Wednesday 19 August, 2020, at the State Party Secretariat at 63 Aba Road, Port Harcourt. After serious deliberations, the party resolved among other things to:

1. Pass a vote of confidence on the State Caretaker Committee led by Barrister Isaac Ogbobula for its undying effort to unite the membership of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State. Party leaders also expressed satisfaction with the Committee's victory at the Court of Appeal which resulted in a stay of execution of the order of a Port Harcourt High Court presided over by Justice George Omereji.

2. The Party Leaders at the meeting reaffirmed their abiding faith in ongoing talks that are designed to reconcile all disagreeing individuals in our midst and restore sustainable peace and progress within our rank and file. It further encouraged those who are championing the process not to relent in their attempt to restore unity.

3. The APC congratulated the Minister of Transportation and Leader of the Party in the State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for offering strong and effective leadership. And acknowledged his resolve, through the NPA, to decentralize port operations in the country, to include ports within the South South geopolitical region. We are gladdened by the fact that the biggest container ship ever to enter Nigerian waters berthed last Saturday at Onne Port. This development would help to boost our economy as a nation;

4. The APC thanked the Statutory members of the party for intervening to halt the drift within the party. It acknowledged the effort of the Hon. Sokonte Davies led Exco to resuscitate activities within the party
