Good news - The cries of Nigerian Students have been heard as the federal government has asked schools to prepare for reopening. This news was passed out alongside the relaxing of curfew time Nationwide. The Nigerian governments has urged state government and school administrators to make plans and prepare for full reopening of schools in the country.

This directives were given in a briefing on Thursday by the National coordinator of the presidential Task force, Sani Aliyu. However, Mr. Aliyu also outlined the new guidelines for the third phase of eased lockdown in Nigeria which will be begin by midnight. He further explained that educational institutions like daycare, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions should start preparing so as to see if they can reopen within this third phase of lockdown.

He also mentioned that for effective compliance, the PTF has recommended that state governments should conduct a risk assessment to ensure all schools on every level follow the covid-19 guildlines. And to also make sure the schools have a strategy on ground to monitor their preparations. He further noted that if schools are ready to open, it won't open at once rather the reopening will be done stage by stage to prevent the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Government has fixed September 21 as the tentative date for the reopening of schools shut down due to coronavirus pandemic in the state. Mrs Funke Egbemode, the Commissioner for Information and Civic made this known in a statement in Osogbo on Tuesday.
