Hi fellow NL,
Pls shun my grammar errors.

I'm very much confuse about the course I was given as totally against my choice. I graduated from secondary school since 2014, since then I've been seeking for admissions to tertiary institution (University) with Good UTME scores but admission wasn't forthcoming, mind you my choice of course from day1 was Political Science and Theatre Art as second thoughts (but all my times of writing UTME my choices were always Political Science).

After Series of writing UTME I never gave up while I'm already 24 while my mates from sec school were preparing rounding up their NYSC (although that was never bordering me as expected) so I sat for the 2019 UTME examination, as usual I scored very well, 220 precisely but this time was admitted to a federal university distinguished one but not my Choice Of Course Political Science to Adult Education, although I was happy to see myself finally admitted proceeded with every registration and payments, even attended lectures before the Covid-19 break, now here's the main koko this is my first time of hearing of such course, I'm presently trying to know what kind of Job one is opportune to with degree from this Course, I'm presently trying to check if I should go for a change of course later on or know the necessary opportunity in it so I could add it to my list of tomorrow's vision.

Pls advice a brother, a Son and a Friend Thank You.

Pls Mods help me to push to Front Page. Plssssssssss

Go for it and while you're doing it, consider several options like business, professional exams, etc. Most people hardly earn a living nowadays based on what hey studied in school.

Adult education is a course under faculty of education. It is a good course as it tends to lead one towards the tutoring path.

If you are passionate about teaching & impacting knowledge, go for it, & give it your very best.

adult edu, special edu, primary edu, et al have few students unlike the Social sciences courses that a lot of applicants applied to. I opine that if your passion is in political science then try and change to political science education in dept. Of educational foundations.

You can get a job with any course for that matter, but adult education?

I hate to discriminate against courses. The chances of an average graduate getting a good job after graduation is low, the chances that you'll get a job as an Adult Education graduate is even lower.

Unless you're lucky and/or connected, even to see teaching job go hard you.

My advice is, since you have a knack for politics and are old, start engaging yourself in politics, I'm not talking about SUG o.

SUG is not all bad though, but join the real life politics.

Start preparing for your future after graduation right now.

Don't even listen to Nairalander telling you sweet sweet things o.

Comparison begets frustration.
Anyways, you can google usefulness of Adult education in Nigeria if you find nothing useful hereon nairaland. If you aren't satisfied with whatever you find or when you're in school then you can change to some other department. You can also combine the course with some other course, eg Adult education + French/special education/ early childhood education/ political science etc.
All the best.

Adult Education.
I'd rather prefer social studies education than that s#it.

Why will you waste your time studying what you are not passionate about.?

The course is for less privileged.
Sit for another Jamb and go for your dream course. You can do it

Re: What Can I Do With This Course After School by soliufiljannah(m): 10:39pm On Sep 25, 2020
UI abi? Na dem dey dash adult edu anyhow. Try and graduate with good grades, learn some lucrative skills while schooling. I will recommend digital content based on d adult edu. U may end up being a lecturer na. I get 1friend wey studied adult edu in ui

Both political science and adult education are nonsense in Nigeria of present... but if I were u ,I'll choose political science cos it sounds ' posh' and popular.. but for job opportunities, non bro.. only professional courses guarantee job after graduation without much connection..

Hi fellow NL,
Pls shun my grammar errors....

From my own nasty experience facing something like this, I'd advice you to drop that useless course, learn a skill and become pro at it while still applying until you get your desired.

This is 2020, degrees are not exactly top of the plate right now... people with skills and great ideas (read startups) are employing people with degrees.

Please drop that nonsense. WTH are you going to do with Adult Education in 2020?!

Op seems you're not happy about the course.
I wasted 2 years in edu maths.
Took me that 2 years to realise that I had no interest and also the balls to leave it.
I applied for rediography first time i got 230 that wasn't enough and a D in chemistry, second time i got 260 got admission letter but was falsely accused of impersonation during waec so i still couldn't get admitted as i had no ssce for that. I got frustrated and linked up with a relative in school who pulled strings and got me edu maths, from beginning i felt i was overqualified for that course, it just wasn't for me i tried to manage it, well in the process i found my calling it wasn't radiography talkless edu maths it was CS i already had love for it and everything computer related.
Study materials were easier to get and all with serious lectures who knew their stuff. Unlike education where most staff there behave like a Normal civil servant.
If you're interested in pol science I'd say start with what you have and still write jamb again for pol science. Or if you can edu admin or some other thing but adult education.

I studied social studies education and I'm currently working in the IT field. I have friends who studied adult education but are currently working in banks and audit firms. First degree is good, but most people switch to different fields after graduating.
After school nobody cares about what you studied the question is usually what do u do for a living.

Op should just know that he will be laughed at and disrespected as an undergraduate specially as a guy.

But last last he will be alright.
