its not free in the UK, unless you are resident here its not free.

Umm excuse me I'm British myself I've seen loads of immigrants give birth in hospitals over here if you have labour pains don't waste any time just go into the nearest hospital and they'll take care of you no questions asked about citizenship or anything all they care about is. The safety of the mother and baby. I still know a few immigrants staying here illegally that have managed to give birth to 3 children no questions asked.

chaperon88: Hi angel baby. Read yours with much fascination. Ps educate the house on the free delivery package for non citizens of the UK. Secondly I tell you from experience that the stress at the UK borders far outweigh any in the US, BA even turns bak Preggies whose final destination is the US and even where u are airlifted, the stress u go thru at their immigration for mere transit is something else. And thirdly, tell me why I will wanna go thru all the stress and spend so much if not to ensure dual citizenship for my children thereby safeguarding their future
I know for a fact it's free in the United Kingdom to deliver your child and the aftercare. Only thing is its unlikely you will be granted citizenship and if you overstay you will be classified as an illegal immigrant things have really tightened up. I have heard of a woman that reached heathrow and got turned back because she was heavily pregnant and they were not sure of her intentions and I also saw on boarder force a nigerian woman that was denied visa to come to the uk because she was over 5 months pregnant and they were not sure of her intentions. I say come to England when your under 4 months and don't declare the pregnancy give birth for free and see your legal options for your baby after that. Plus having dual nationality or being American or British doesn't secure or safeguard anyone's future you should really find out more about what your talking about before jumping head first in making such decisions I simply see this American birth thing as a waste of money that a lot of the people talking on this forum simply don't have.

Nice thread for child birth visa application.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Nobody: 9:26am On Mar 24, 2013
it is free if you are resident in the UK - just because people fly in use the NHS and fly out again it doesn't make it right.

there are types of visas you will apply for that will be refused if you owe the NHS money. I don't know why people think its ok to have free healthcare boast about it and not contribute a penny to the system.

some london hospitals are running up millions of pounds of debt from health tourists - i'm all for people seeking better maternity care for themselves but it is not free for the whole world. it free cos doctors don't ask for deposits or proof of residency.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by angelbaby22(f): 10:41am On Mar 24, 2013
Yes we pay taxes to fund the NHS and people on income support that can't afford their families yes we do as british citizens. But this forum is about cost effective treatment abroad and I'm saying its free if you come to the United Kingdom whether your morality tells you it's wrong to steal from tax payers or not that's up to you but everyone will take the chance to save if they could. How many Nigerians, polish, Russians, Asians are sitting at home just birthing kids pretending that their single parents EATING THE TAX PAYERS MONEY and working secretly with husbands earning over £20'000 a year.

I say if you can come just come everyone must be some what deceitful to gain one way or another.

Actually its not free, she will be given a bill after giving birth and ready to leave, the issue of citizenship is out of the equation because citizenship by birth was stopped more than 2 decades ago.

If she runs away and refuses to pay then she can kiss goodbye to coming to the UK again.

dancewith: A sis gave birth last year in MD and it cost $7,999. The method of delivery was CS so I suppose normal delivery may be cheaper. In NYC it is way too expensive. I will recommend you also avoid these areas: North Carolina, NY, Atlanta, Michigan

Someone had a baby at Delaware for $3,500. Another sis paid less than $5,000 in Texas. Portland is also cheap. It would appear that Delaware and Texas are your target

Good luck
i know its been a while since u wrote this but am curious about portland.do u know any specific hospitals and how much exactly is cheap.thanks

Hello Guys, I'm very happy to find such a great forum, hopefully u can help me.
I'm in Brooklyn/NY with a tourist visa. I'm 4 months pregnant and have no insurance or enough funds to pay for my baby's arrival. I share a room with other people and have a babysitting job for paying the bills. After almost 2 years of a serious relationship, my american boyfriend/fiance left me when I told him I'm pregnant and that I'm not aborting. He absolutely disappeared and I have no idea if he is even in the US anymore.... abandoning me and his baby.
I honestly don't know what to do. Going back home at this point is not an option as it would make it impossible to have my ex recognizing his child and also paying for support. In the US I can guarantee my baby's citizenship (it doesn't seem his father would apply for the baby's citizenship) and have the court looking for him (father) and requiring him to pay for child support.
I intend to leave the country with my baby as soon as I get paternity for my baby through court system and child support issues solved, which will probably be around Jan/2014. Should I apply for medicaid or any other aid if I'm on a visa? Will I be able to comeback to the US in the future?
Thanks a lot!

You must not apply for aid. By doing that you become a thief taking money from tax payers in USA.
You then make matters worse by saying you will take citizenship for child but run back to Nigeria to avoid payments.
This makes you another benefit cheat who makes things more difficult for genuine people who intend to be honest.
Do not become a thief, do not claim benfit to which you are not entitled.

If you do this you will be on permanent ban list for the rest of your life. It could also affect you child as it has theft on it's head from birth.

As mentioned I payed for all my services upfront. I asked the friend who recommended me to doctoresparati.com, she had her baby in the States too and she mentiones immigration wants proof of solvency so i decided that I just pay evrything and avoid problems. Im not sure this is quite necessary though, when I talked with the people at doctoresparati.com, they informed me that upon enrolling ($150) they would send me a commitment letter from the doctor (which I got anyway). I just wanted to make sure so I went ahead and paid everything ahead of time. They sent me receipts for everything so basically Im at about $5500 plus hotel.

Thank u somuch sis. U have really been of tremendous help with your honest replies.

Please, can u tell me the estimate of the cost of your trip? Flight fare, hotel bills, feeding, birthing and all. How much would u say u spent overall for u and your hubby? Could u also give the name and address of the hotel? Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions. Just want to get as much info as I can. Thanks a lot.

Well I am still expecting the cost of delivery from the hospital. The doctor's fee of $2150 is all I have paid for now. Obviously they accept international pregnant women thats why I'm here. I was informed the hospital gives 40% discount if you pay cash down.

Please, what was the total cost of delivery? Could u give the name and address of the hospital? Thanks

Hello to all,

I would like to share my experiences with my birth as I have just returned from the U.S.A. and feel obligated to share my experiences with this forum since this was my third child (Apr 4, 2013), all in different cities in the U.S.

I had 2 previous babies one in Dallas and one in Atlanta, both of which were cities I had heard of people from Nigeria having their delivery. What you can expect (in my experience) is a very thurough questioning by the immigration agent and what felt like a suspicious atmophere that was not at all friendly to my tourist status. After I had tried calling and getting responses before me and my husband arrived (almost ten years ago the first time) it was really difficult to have a doctor to respond, much less, understand my different needs since I would be arriving late in the pregnancy. The cost: $10356 in Atlanta and $12522 in Dallas, yes it was that expensive but they did not disclose all the necessary costs because as in most OB-GYN clinics, the hospital bills and other expenses are separate. Although I had asked the total, I can guarantee you I was not informed as to all the costs, all of which you MUST pay (without gov. help) or risk losing your visa. Needless to say the experience was very stressfull and expensive YET I still believe it is worth it if you have no choice but those two cities.

Thanks to the advice on this forum, my most recent bouncing baby boy was born in El Paso from the medical group mentioned here (www.doctoresparati.com). It was a very welcoming and possitive experience from the begining (when we contacted them) throughout the time we were in El Paso. I felt very comfortable seeing that they knew my situation as a tourist and they always had patients from Mexico and even met 3 patients from Lagos while I was there (as well as other countries). When we arrived me and my husband were given an orientation that was pertinent to what I needed to do as an international patient with regards to my baby. I have to thank the members of this forum for recommending them as it truely is a service caterred to international patients. As to the total cost, Im not sure about cesarean but my total costs for evrything was around $5500, best of all it was all disclosed ahead of time. Peace Nigeria!

Few questions please. . .Did u disclose your intention to give birth in the US during the interview? What stage of your pregnancy did u travel? Did u encounter any problems with immigrations on arrival?

Don't get it twisted...you are entitled to nothing...child support, medicaid, nothing...you are a visitor. You overstayed your visit and is eligible for deportation and a ban.

Me and my husband already had our visas, but they did provide a letter of medical responsability after we enrolled.

Entering to El Paso was not a problem with immigration which was the main difference to entering Dallas and more so Atlanta, they explained why during our orientation at the clinic too. We arrived at 35 weeks but your best bet is to contact them through their website, they WILL answer. Peace Nigeria.

Hello all, I had my baby is Brooklyn New York and I must say its not funny as I was billed 17 k dollars. I won't advice any one to opt for New York. I had to because I had no one in other states. Though the I declared my intention of having my baby here. Experience is the best teacher. Just study the system and know your way. You will be fine. No one knows exactly what and what happens except you experience it. I will be back to d country soon. It's well.

Thank u @betty. Yes this is my first time. I my husby and daughter got 2 years. It was C section oooo. It was a private hospital mayb that's why it's expensive. But they have programmes to help with the payment. It's a very good experience and I thank God because I had some issues my baby was Big so they did a lot. Can't even mention wat they billed my daughter but that's not an issue as she is entitled to Medicaid so that sorted her bills.

Your first time and u got 2 years? You were really lucky. Thank God for everything.

I think the whole thing was that expensive cos it was a private hospital. It could have been cheaper elsewhere. But in all, its worth every bit of it. Congrats.

Did u apply for medicaid for your daughter? I thought they said that can marr someone's chances of getting back into the US afterwards? Could u shed more light pls?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Nobody: 4:27am On Jun 09, 2013
We applied for B1/b2 which is 2 years multiple. I also told the visa officer I was going to have my baby here. As for Medicaid all us citizens are enttiltled to it. I have topay for my hospital bill. Cost of delivery but any other treatment given to the baby Medicaid will take care of it cos she is eligible. I am not entitled to it so any treatment I get I have to pay. If I refuse to pay and apply for Medicaid that's when I have a problem. If u apply for Medicaid and pay back too u don't have a problem.
