It's usually better to replace auto transmissions but you should be sure that's your only problem

Let the seller replace the transmission first or convert it to manual. make sure everything is fine before buying it.

This applies to all cars, AC needs gas, Transmission needs replacing etc. LET THEM FIX IT FIRST, THEN ADD THE MONEY ON TOP. Unless of course u trust the person selling the car won't lie to you

Some transmission issues are fixable but technical know how is what is limited. It all depends on the fault of the transmission. But it is risky to buy a car with faulty automatic transmission unless you are prepared for the worst case.
