I'm quite scared. Please can someone tell me about the orlu/Ihioma culture concerning burial in Imo state. [/quote

Hahaha.. something like this happened at ihioma.
But what caused it was because the man married two wives. The story was just talk of the town.
Today you will see policeman standing at the gate with burial ceremony going on before you know it,the other wife and children will hijack the corpse then fix a date for their own burial. The first wife will come with army people then the other wife will hijack the corpse with the help of umunna.
I just dey pity the dead man sef
I think they even went to court sef.

Hope you are not trying to justify this barbaric act. I don't think she is trying to gain anything other bring to our notice how sick some cultural practice are. Greed permeate every fiber of an average igbo man's nature. Over emphasis on monetary success as a yardstick for measuring how much respect and dignity you get is the main reason why they hate one another so much. Anything to earn that respect is considered good even if it brings pain to others. They say Yoruba and Hausa are jealous of them because of their commercial successes across the country. But an average Yoruba and Hausa is more United than the Igbos can ever be. A saying among the Yoruba has it that" Owo ma tan, Eyan Loma kun' . Translated roughly, good relationship is more valuable than wealth. Igos need to learn that money is not everything.
The lady didn't mention money or that someone wanted their land, just location of burial. She told half truth. The family kindred take over burial in igboland no matter how rich or influential just like marriage. You can't Bury the man of the house at the back yard. They might not have been coming home to know how things are done and the location of where to bury someone in case of future because igbo don't exhume corpse. The kindred always take the best interest of the family in this kind of situation and its always by consensus. How many times have you heard of burial location issues in igboland? She should tell us the full gist.

So you are saying they killed their father?

How did you know how much they are giving to wife and children

Is it culturally wrong to bury someone at the back of his house as long as its the same compound
They might not have killed him but they might not have taken care of him well. He might have had a good heart to help his people which a greedy wife and her children would kick against. The kindred would always know because family bond is very strong in igboland. The man might have told his sisters and brothers what he was going through in the hands of wife and children. It's a taboo to bury the father or mother at the back yard unless in extreme situation where there's jo space in front which i have never seen in my 60yrs of existence. Her story didn't add up.

Your other points might be correct but I find the bolded hard to believe. Someone furking out 150k can't be starved by his wife and children. He'd rather eat out at worst
It's possible, it could be called starved in Igbo land if proper food is not cooked and served to the man if he has money and children. Eating out everytime is not acceptable way of life in igboland please no matter how well off or good restaurants around one.

A man that eats out is being starved by his wife.

The girl is just being stupid. Why would anyone think her uncles are trying to take empty plot of land belonging to her father when they are all richer than her father. Her father even wrote his will which she ran off to have the will read even before the man's burial. People shouldn't be quick to judge matters posted on social media cos majority write to elicit sympathy and chase clout. I just wish someone from her family can speak up and expose this stupid girl. How can you want to bury your father who is the first born of the family, in a virgin land or backyard when your father has a building where you all live? How come he died in the house with a wound on his head and you took him to the mortuary and waited for 24 hours before informing his blood brothers who live in the same community with you guys? Just go to your community page on Facebook and read what people are writing about you and your mother. It is a very small community and everybody knows the truth.

I don't know the true story, but She seems like a hothead and her rants suggests so too.

your problem is that you believe that your kindred tradition is the general tradition guiding every igbo land.As kindred head you should know that his position is that of a baale in yoruba kingdom and as such traditional principles were strictly adhered to even when the church buried him

Mr man go and read the story again and also read an account of a witness of the said burial here on this thread. The man died out of negligence and wickedness of his wife and daughters (the twitter lady ranting this nonsense).

They said the man died of a mysterious illness and he was well to do haven worked with CBN, which is probably where he got the illness because Nigerian government jobs are a death trap, especially CBN, nnpc, etc, as soon as you get promotion, prepare for your early death or go and fortify yourself with all kinds of juju to prevent evil arrows from your colleagues from different Nigerian tribe's trying to bring you down to take over.

So after the man got ill, his wife and daughters started maltreating him and his only son as they said seems to be suffering mental illness cry

The man died and the wife and daughter refused to inform his brothers who are even richer than him, not as if they are hungry, they are professors, doctors, etc....so the whole issue boils down to her father's siblings trying to fight the wife and daughter for ill treatment they gave to their brother that resulted to his early death.

The girl is evil! angry

This shouldnt make them not want to bury the deceased in his own land as customs and tradition demands.Even if the said woman is wicked, the brothers have some explanations to do cos wanting not to bury the man where he is supposed to is very evil honestly

Wake up!
Your culture usually denies your female child or children of their father's inheritance...can you tell me that is a good culture?
Your culture opens an avenue for some few jobless old people in your villages and your communities to exploit or extort you during burial and wedding ceremony is that a good culture?
Your culture is diabolical and fetish in nature can that be a good culture?
Your culture is discriminatory and callous...can that be a good culture...
After all, some of your cultural identities are borrowed if you doubt me, check some foreign materials attached to Igbo or niger-delta attires
Dude, we are in the 21st century...wake -up and stop becoming a meal ticket for some lazy old men in the village to leech on...they will collect your money and will still charm you....what a doubt waste. !
Ist of all,u refused to state ur tribe here cos i know its the worst tribe ever.Igbos by far have the best culture in Nigeria today. If u are a human with breath, call the tribe ur from and lets open up d can of worms.Fool
