Is Oil The Only Source Of Income For Nigeria? by dhope: 7:44pm On Nov 03, 2020
I have been curious about the statement common to Nigeria political office holders whenever they are opportune to speak on economic matter. The latest being "ASUU understand that we only sell 2.2M barrels of oil daily at $35/barrel" (Emeka Nwajiuba, 2020).
I am aware I pay tax on items I am purchasing in market so also for the phone calls I make nowadays. Which purse does this money goes? Is government saying the money they are getting from taxing organizations and other MDAs like custom is so insignificant that we only rely on oil money or am I the one making wrong assertion?
Pls I need more enlightenment on how FG especially gets income aside oil. Thank you

I made a thread on it awhile back. Oil is the main source of income then corprate taxes, VAT, then customs and excises. Here are some charts from the CBN.

Lazy afonjas have refused to go back to cocoa farming

Since slavery ended officially in 1938 in northern Nigeria, they have refused to bring back groundnut pyramids.

Only ND oil is feeding these ingrates in Niggeria.

Ask them .

Abi you dey fear to ask them?

Meanwhile, if we reintroduce slave trade in afonjas or expand their lucrative organ harvesting trade we could see a 2% uptick in revenue .

The bulk of the non-oil revenues comes from the South West. Given the fact that's from taxes from what they work for,in comparison to oil which the ND does no work for, then they're simply the most productive of the region's.
And of course, the South East is useless.
