A statement by one body called International Institute for Investigative Journalism (IIIJ), concerning the investigative report done by Cable News Network (CNN) on the shooting at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos might be a statement drafted by Lai Mohammed and the Federal Government to discredit CNN's report.

The unknown agency called IIIJ, in a statement claimed CNN did a hatchet job targeted at the Nigerian Army.

In an electronic statement signed by an unkown special rapporteur, Francois Deburoiche, said the agency carried out an investigation on the CNN's report and came to this conclusion on events that led to the escalation of violence at the toll gate.

However, a research into the foundation of this agency has established that IIIJ is a shell organization probably created by the government to save their head. The only known investigative journalism association is the International Consortium for Investigative Journalism (ICIJ).

A quick google search would show that the IIIJ only started existing hours ago. Another search on the name, Francois Deburoiche shows he/she doesn't exist and names like that which exist have no link to the IIIJ.

It is extremely shameful for the Nigeria government, rather than bringing up real evidence to back their claims, have resorted to drafting fake articles and creating non-exiting reporters to discredit the investigative report done by the CNN.
