The Check engine light is permanently showing on my dashboard on my camry 03. I scanned with scanner it shows OCV circuit error.

My mechanic opeproned the bottom tray cleaned the sum but the problem still persists.

The engine also makes a loud noise like a local grinding machine intermittently after driving it for some time like 20 mins to an hour.

I de bring beans and tomatoes make you grind am for me.

But seriously, Black bishop talked about this somewhere:

P0016 TOYOTA - Crankshaft Position Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor 'A'

P0016 Toyota Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the Oil Control Valve ( ocv) to regulate the intake camshaft angle. As a result of the angle change, the engine timing is advance or slowpoke. Optimizing engine timing will help the engine improve torque and fuel economy, and the exhaust emissions decrease under overall driving conditions. The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system includes the Oil Control Valve ( ocv ) and VVT controller. The ECM detects the actual intake valve timing using signals from the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, and performs feedback control.

Possible Causes
▪︎ Dirty Oil
▪︎ Faulty Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor
▪︎ Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor circuit is open or shorted
▪︎ Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor poor electrical connection
▪︎ Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Possible Symptoms
¤ Loss or Lack of Power.
¤ Rough Idling
¤ And most importantly Check Engine Light.
Possible Solutions

Change the engine oil, and rescan if not change the Variable Valve Timing Sensor. But before changing check the wiring.

Don't kill urself because of Toyota check engine light bros, that light will always come for a Toyota in that year except you replace o2 sensor. What should bother you is the noise, pls see a technician asap o

I've seen two and they both don't know what to do because the noise only comes when it feels like. Nothing I do brings it up. I drove it for an hour today plus a mechanic drove it and everything was sound no noise.

I'm scared of driving it that way so my engine won't knock.

Update: my mechanic got the Oil Control Valve
Issue: the current one broke and is stuck in the engine and my mechanic has tried but can't take it out.

SOS

After changing the Oil Control Valve or Variable Valve Timing Solenoid the check engine light went off. Then I did a scan and no more errors.

See links to videos that helped in removing the OCV, because it broke in half and was stuck in the engine.
