Oga! The calendar was structured from after the death of Jesus Christ and not Before nor during. So its A.D. plus that's not our problems now. Just live ryt by him and do good. All these are inconsequential. There is a particular country that is even like 20yrs behind other country. Wat do u say about dat?

Not the death sir, AD does not mean After Death. It means Anno Domini (latin for: in the year of our Lord)

Not inconsequential, otherwise you wouldn't be reading and commenting! grin

Oga I no fit laff you. It's 2021 After the death of Christ not after his birth. So if we are to calculate the year after his birth it might even be 2040 or 2030.

Psalm 90 : 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

1 Chronicles 12:32 from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do

How do we number our days or understand the times, if we dont even know the year we are in? grin
utter balderdash

so you can only know and understand your days if this year was 2025....then call it 2025 and move on.

Do we really need to split hairs over this? As you rightly said, the calendar created then was kind of faulty but then it was done for historical and to lesser purposr time-accounting purpose. To be able to accurately reference events a particular event has to be taken as baseline.

That is the reason why Anno Mundial (the Year of the World) was created by the Jews. They used the events in Genesis to the accounting. That was far from being perfect. It was in quest for a more perfect one that a new calendar was devised.
Before the epoch of birth of Jesus Christ was adopted, there was the idea of using the founding of Rome and the birth of Julius Ceasar as dates. As you rightly mentioned, there we errors in calculating the birth of Jesus Christ. It was done by human being and there was nothing divine about it.
Two sources of error occurred. First, it was off by 4 years. The calculation done by a human being is in error by 4 years. People also pointed out another thing. The numbering system in vogue then was not Arabic numerals but Romans numerals. The concept of figure 0 (zero) was strange to Romans. Or when you were in Primary school you were taught (I, ii, iii, iv, vi, vii etc) corresponding to (1, 2,3 ,4 ,5, 6,7 etc). if you are born this year, you will celebrate 1 year birthday next year. So Jesus ‘celebrated’ his birthday (technically speaking) the year he was born. That is a bit understandable because Romans don’t have concept of zero.

Things became complicated as times go on. There were many calendars that are used by different countries all over the world. In those days, Julian calendar was the de-facto but it had problems and now we (most countries) now use Gregorian calendar system. If the OP is splitting hairs on this, I wonder what he would have done if s\he were alive in 1752 in England. To synchronise its calendar with the rest of Europee, 11 days ‘were lost’ in history.

Ordinarily, you would have expected Wednesday 2nd September 1752 to be followed by Thursday 3rd September, 1752. No! Thursday 14th September 1752 followed Wednesday 2nd September 1752. 11 days Thusday, Thursday 3rd September, 1752 through Tuesday, 1st of September never exited in British calendar. It is needless bothering about this
