During ovulation, as the egg develops in the ovary, it is surrounded by fluid, and the fluid, as well as some blood, is released from the ovary together with the egg.

it is believed that the fluid or blood may irritate the cover of the abdominal cavity, causing pain. This cramping pain is also called mittelschmerz!

This type of pain is actually a GOOD pain! It signifies you are viable and able to release an egg that will be fertilized and lead to pregnancy.

Symptoms

1 Pain in the lower abdomen. Just inside the hip bone.

2 The pain typically occurs about two weeks before the menstrual period is due.
