Good day Nairalanders and auto gurus in the house.

Kindly help me know what could be making my car to bounce while driving. I just bought the car and when I first noticed the problems, I was advised to change the tyres and the two front shocks absorber (because there was oil leaks in one).

I have changed the two fronts shocks absorbers and bought/changed to brand new tyres and balancing done, but I still notice that the bouncing has continued, although not as serious before the change of tyres and shocks.

My mechanic does not seem to have answer to the challenge, hence my appeal to you auto guys to help me out with your experience and know-hows.

Thanks

Suspension

Your vehicle’s suspension is what helps keep your tires in contact with the road. Because the suspension is a huge contributor to a smooth and safe ride, it’s pretty easy to notice when there’s an issue, as there will be a dramatic difference in how the car handles. The vehicle may feel as if it’s leaning more to one side than the other, or it may bounce uncontrollably when driving over bumps or potholes. If this is the case, the springs, shock absorbers, sway bar, or ball joints could be damaged, causing a bouncy ride.
Tires

Issues with your vehicle’s tires can also be a reason your car feels bumpy and unstable. If they are overinflated, misaligned, or improperly secured, this can cause problems for your daily driving. Always ensure that your tires have the proper amount of air, and never overfill them. If you have an air leak, overinflating might seem like a good idea to hold your tires over until you can get to a repair shop to have the hole plugged or tire replaced, but the overfilling can too cause further issues.
Steering

Your vehicle’s steering system is what controls where the wheels and tires turn in order to keep you stable on the road. If your vehicle sways or bounces while turning the steering wheel, the issue could be with one of the elements in the steering linkage. The rack bushings may either be too stiff or too loose, causing the unstable ride. Getting regular vehicle alignments at your local auto repair shop is a great way to prevent steering issues that can cause a bouncy ride.

Struts and shock absorbers are typically the first to be blamed when it comes to a bouncy ride, when in fact the bounce can be from an out of round tire, damaged rim, or unbalanced tire, just to name a few

Transmission Problems

Nobody wants to hear that their vehicle has a transmission problem, but it can happen, and it might be the explanation for your bumpy ride. If you notice bumpiness as you try to shift gears, that’s a dead giveaway that you’re dealing with a transmission issue. Note that the longer you let a transmission problem persist, the more complicated and expensive it will be to fix it, so you definitely want to have this looked at sooner rather than later.

Brake Problems

It is also possible that what you’re dealing with is a brake problem. If you feel like your brakes are either more sensitive or less responsive than normal, or if your bumpy ride is accompanied by squealing or moaning sounds, the brakes may be the issue. Again, we recommend getting them checked out by a professional as soon as you can in order to keep the problem from worsening.

A bumpy ride always has a reason, and it’s usually something that needs to be replaced or repaired. Seeing to this maintenance work is something you’ll want to do before the problem spirals out of control. Take your car in for servicing right away!

Bad Tires Can Cause Control Issues Too

There are belts inside of tires, and if one of them busts or shifts, the car’s front or rear end, depending on where the wheel is located, will shake and bounce. The tire may even develop a knot on the surface. Hence, every time it makes a revolution, the protrusion hits against the pavement. In these scenarios, tire replacement is the best option. Don’t fret, though, as our organization has you covered in this regard as well. The technicians will install new tires and get your car riding smooth as silk again.
Balancing Can Make All Of The Difference In The World

Tires that aren’t balanced correctly can cause quite the rough ride, particularly when those tires are located on the front of a car. After reaching a certain speed, like let’s say 55 MPH, it is not uncommon for the front end to start shaking/bouncing when weights do not get installed in the right places along the rims. Our company has the latest tools and technology to eliminate such issues and get you back behind the wheel.

I think it is best to bring it to a car service centre to have a professional mechanic check and repair it!

Do check the front wheel stabilizers at a good mechanic shop
