A STROKE is defined as cerebrovascular accident (CVA) or "brain attack" that occurs when part of the brain loses it blood supply and part of the body that the blood - deprived stop to functioning. In other words, stroke is a disorder of the brain that happens when the brain cells die due to inadequate oxygen.

If you experience ongoing disability because of stroke, the functions that are affected may depend on the side of the brain where the stroke occurred. A STROKE on the right side of the brain tends to affect movements and sensation on the left side of the brain. While stroke on left side of brain tends to affect the right side of the body and may also affect speech and language.
