As at the time we fabricated the steel doors, it was 67,000 each for 4ft x 7ft door (spacification: 1.2mm or complete18 gauge flat sheet for the door frame and 1.5mm or 16 gauge flat sheet for the door panel)

And

45,000 each for 3ft x 7ft doors ( same spacification)

Note: It should be the engineer's discretion at the site.

However, in an area that have a good soil, foundation for a duplex are likely going to be 1m or there about including the column base depending the calculated load both dead and live load. That will give you like 4 courses for a low foundation (height) and 6 to 7 courses or more for a high foundation (height).

Sharp sand is 7 buckets, gum sand is 3 buckets. So total of 10 buckets for one bag of cement.

Well, having tried to upload, type and also copy and paste the list of expenses and could not be completed in parts or in whole I will like to continue with the other updates. Now, we are gearing to finishes; though I take finishes stage part by part (one after another)

We started with:
Septic tank and soak away construction
leveling up the compound
Chembers construction
And 4" pipe installation for solid waste
Clean water supply line laying-out
Test for linkage and possible adjustment.

... before other things will be considered
Because, even the movement of workers other than the plumbing work team could be a problem to a delicate work of sort, especially during pipe laying and slope check that needs few carful team members.

Before we level out the compound we need to introduce a front Step while septic tank is still under construction.


I believe that the width of the step was too much at 1.4m considering the parking lot.

However, final finishes stage contrary to what laymen think is the stage with a lot of consideration, carefulness, and professionalism and should be handled by an engineer please.


Okay, we have to adjust to redesign the step.

I am in this dilemma presently.
Had a plot 50ft X 100ft. Was contemplating a block of flats on it. Then a boundary issue developed around where the land is, and adjustments had to be made to satisfy all plot owners and resolve an issue that warranted some breaking of heads and arms

Finally, my plot got reduced to 42ft X 100ft.
Now I'm not sure what to do with it anymore.

Why didn't you provide a copy of the cadestral plan or survey plan to prove the true size of the land as at when it was surveyed?
with a survey engineer he can determine the true size of the land using the bench Mark which is registered at your state local government counsel even if you have lost the temporary benchmark on the land you just need the number and the surveyor will put a new one for you.

Using of local stones for structures like the slab isn't advisable except it has undergone some Geotechnical test in terms of physical properties (hardness, that's compressive strength)
are there any chemical component that's salt content which can react with the steel reinforcement and cement.
are there voids in it which can allow any growth and cause leakage which will lead to dampness and many more.

I think you are worried about the kind of stone I used for the concrete construction of the Septic tank and it's soak away system?

I will like to say that as a structural engineer my work is to design building, bridges and other types of structures, we measure loads and press to secure structural soundness. I have done my analysis and design prior to the construction.

However, for this reason let me explain, ok? Aggregate can be broadly classified into four different categories: these are heavy weight, normal weight, light weight and ultra-light weight aggregates.

Remember Leg gravel coarse aggregate LGCA ( local stone or sieved stone) is the most common we have in our locality followed by River bank gravel coarse aggregate RBGCA ( washed gravel) , all we need to do is to make use of an engineer while embarking on a building projects to guide us with designs and methods of application to achieve a good concrete mix design with any of these aggregates.

According to International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET) on a research conducted on 07 July 2018.

concrete mix containing Leg gravel coarse aggregate LGCA able to increase the compressive strength followed by the river bank gravel coarse aggregate RBGCA and crushed coarse aggregate CCA in 28days with the values of 32 Mpa, 33Mpa and 30 Mpa respectively. ( Comparative strength in Mpa)

The tank stanchion in making

Most times my method of fabricating the steelstructure of tank stanshion are the same.

The tank stanchion is at least 3m above the concrete fascia.

Water Pressure is a good factor to be considered while fabricating a tank stanshion.

Considering that they may not be free movement around the tank stanchion we have to make a way under the stanchion about 1.8m height before brazing the stanchion so that two people can freely access the rear part of the building
