The race for the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation has been at a standstill since the 6th of November when it came to light that Ngozi Okonjo Iweala had the support of over 70% of the WTO members. Unfortunately, even with the 70% support, former President Donald J. Trump insisted that he would veto her candidacy. He had plans to support her opponent, so the General Counsel in Geneva postponed its announcement till Washington DC could make an unbiased decision after their elections.

However, on the 5th of February, South Korea's Trade Minister, Yoo Myung-Hee, that was head to head with Dr. Iweala, dropped out of the race. This spurred the panel to start the process of confirmation. Almost immediately after this, Joe Biden, the current President of the Unites States of America announced his support of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is currently having a Ruth Bader Ginsburg moment as she has shattered a couple of glass ceilings to become the first African and woman ever, to head the WTO.
