Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by 1025: 6:42pm On Apr 09, 2011
transparency will be confirmed if pdp is pushed out of the system. i don't believe there is any nigerian that wants nigeria to remain in this mess of a country.
if at the end of the day, pdp wins, i will not beloieve any transparency.
let these blood suckers leave us alone.
jega, apart from becoming a billionaire, you can still write ur name on GOLD in the history of this country.
we are watching.

This is one reason Nigeria will not progress.

For now, this is the freest and fairest election ever! At the polling station in Maiduguri (Jere LGA) which I witnessed, people voted freely and the votes were counted right in front of everyone! Peolple were even having fun regardless of defeat of their preferred candidates.

For Senate,
The PDP candidate Mohammed Zanna had the highest votes (320) followed by the CPC candidate (106) then the ruling ANPP party (48).

People here are tired of the ruling ANPP and have indeed expressed themselves by voting for credible candidates.

@1025 aka chidichris,
when will u change?
So unless PDP loses, it wont be transparent.

You are such a dumbito!

For your info, if PDP loosing to u means loosing most parliamentary and gubernatorial seats, then your wish will most likely come true.
However, if na presidential, forget it!
GEJ dey kamkpe!

As at now, it is the freest an fairest Parliamentary election ever!!! BBC is already commending the conduct of the election. I hope we get it right in the presidential and governorship elections also.
Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by taj1150: 7:05pm On Apr 09, 2011
Freest election? Are you implying that this election is freer and fairer that June 12 in spite of the cases of violence?
Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by efisher(m): 7:10pm On Apr 09, 2011
There was no twitter or facebook or nairaland for us to consult back then. There is definitely more transparency. Information/ communication has played a key role in this election. However, let's see if the results tally with what was observed at the polling booths. wink
Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by Dave6: 7:23pm On Apr 09, 2011
@taj 1150
Most probably. In spite of the bombings and shootings in the few reported areas, Nigerians came out to vote.
Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by Lagosboy: 7:26pm On Apr 09, 2011
Let us be cautious before singing praises. This election is in 3 phases and this is just legislative election , the presidential and governorship elecion will determine the success. However , if this process is repeated then it should be successfull.

There are repors of problems in Imo, Delta  and Rivers regarding ballot snatching and other things.
Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by Nobody: 7:32pm On Apr 09, 2011
am really impressed, except for the killings and bombings, its that freest and fairest so far

pls note that if we have a good and credible parliamentary, the presidency, governor and lga chairpersons will do their job well as checks and balances will be maintained and respected (my views though)

How can you proclaim the elections is not transperence if pdp wins?.Why not go and vote against them and therefore vote them out,
We nigerians talks and complain alot.seat down and pray to God to butter our bread without figthing hard for the butter.
If you want change you must figth for it by voting them out.that is the only revelution that is there for you to fulfill if that is what you desire.
Or street revolution like egypt ,lybia. how many of you is ready for it,sacrifice ur life for the betterness of the country.if you cant sacrifice to vote .will you sacrifice to risk your life?.

If we take away what happened in Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom. It will be on par with June 12. You have to commend them, they have tried.

We Nigerians have done 1/3 it. Now, let's go for the remaining 2/3. Let us support them.
If the presidential election can be like this, then , Nigeria is on the right path.
Re: This Might Actually Be The Freest And Fairest Election In Nigeria's History by taj1150: 10:37pm On Apr 09, 2011
One agrees that the election today was generally free and fair. We have to salute all Nigerians for making history. Today's election is perhaps the freest and the fairest since 1999. But to consider it "the freest and fairest in Nigeria's history" may not be historically correct. We must not be carried away by the euphoria of the moment. Facts are sacred. cool

Thank you President Jonathan. May he live long and prosper.

I don't support PDP, but I definitely support Goodluck Jonathan. Personality over party is my motto.

Tranparency of this election is not question. I bet you most of the thomases here never leave their bedroom since yesterday, they are busy with phone and laptop posting confusion in NL.

Yes its Fresh Air blowing through Nigeria!
It takes a big spirit to institutionalise the impartial. These elections mark an epochal stage in our development. I am proud.

Good job GEJ, good job Jega.

One of the few times I'll agree with Beaf. Kudos to GEJ, JEGA, etc for fair elections. . . whether they did this on purpose or by accident, by their will or against their will.

I don't agree with this. He promised free elections (thus making it his responsibility), and appears to be delivering on it. Whether you like him or not, I think you have to give him credit. He would certainly get the blame if they turned out badly, so has to get the credit if they turn out well. Fair is fair.
