Does Anyone Feel This Same Way?? by Sermwell(m): 9:36am On Mar 21, 2021
There is something that keeps bothering me and I thought to share. I have a very strong aversion for religion. All religious activities I ever engaged in was just to please the people around me. I do believe that religion is filled with lies and deceit, and I don't want to hurt family and friends by avoiding religious places.
I also think due to our religious nature as a people, my social and even family life will be badly affected if I completely avoid religion. Even the lady I intend to marry has been giving me conditions before we can get married. She insists that I must be very active in church. They will just demonize or call me all sorts of names if I don't go to church.
I do believe there is a supreme being but not as portrayed by these religions especially Christanity! Just today, our pastor boldly said without paying tithe, one can never prosper financially, and for me, this is big fat lie. I have been prospering financially without paying tithe, although I help people around me in need.
My question is, I'm I the only one who just participate in religious activities or go to church just to please the society? I'm I the only one who has strong aversion for religion?? Please I need to know!!

So what you are doing is living a lie, deceiving others into believing that you are one of them when in fact the you they think they know is a lie? undecided

Don't get me wrong, I understand what you claim you feel of religion but are you any better than the loes and deceit you point out that is religion? undecided
Isn't this a case of a hypocrite casting aspersions on others? undecided

You need to be real with yourself..

Firstly, going to church every Sunday is now feasible except if you want to fake it.

Secondly, are the pastors/Imams practicing what they are preaching?

Majority of Nigerian politicians are either Christian or Muslim.. Then one needs to ask why have they been wasting their energy going to church on Sundays or mosque on Fridays if they have been following what their Imams/pastors preaching

In your post do you not admit to engaging in activities simply to "please others"? What do you think that means? undecided

You are in a relationship with one you intend to marry, but you also also into doing things, not with a sincere heart, but simply to please that one too. What do you think that makes you? undecided

Did you come here thinking that no one would see through to telling you who you are and what you represent in the midst of all that? undecided

This matter is not one of religion, or of pleasing others, it is about personal inner reflection to reach the factual conclusion that one (like every other human being) is a sinner, and cannot stand before or dwell with the Holy GOD Almighty without being spiritually made clean/spiritually born again (John 3:3) by Him! "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," - Romans 3:23

The flesh is temporary... the spirit, however, is another matter. "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment," - Hebrews 9:27

Judgment is certain because of the fall of man , but thank GOD for providing a way of escape through Himself, in The Person of the Lord JESUS, The CHRIST.

"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive." - 1 Corinthians 15:22
"And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit." - 1 Corinthians 15:45

So, at the end of the day - one should forget "religion", forget about improperly pleasing others, and focus on one's personal relationship with GOD by His grace, mercy, power, and work alone.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” - John 3:36

Peace!
