Number One should be your choice and number three is a second choice

You stay longer when you have a task/job on hand. When you get hook of idea in solving a particular problem, excuse yourself from the laptop and do some other things...bye and bye, an Idea will just strike through ur head.

Although programmers are always glued to their system, but it dependence on what u are doing on the system, not how long. It's best to give urself breaks after a few hours on the system

It depends... sometimes I code for like 12hrs or even more especially when I need to learn a new programming language. Most times, I spend a whole lot of my time thinking and designing the project itself especially if it's a large project.
