A Nigerian man has revealed that he never knew about his ingenuity till he went to further his education in Canada.

According to the Twitter user identified as @_Larenzo, he graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) with a third class degree, but when he started studying in Canada, his lecturers were impressed with his problem-solving skills.

He later discovered after taking an IQ test, that he was a genius whose intelligence was greatly underrated owing to Nigeria’s falling standard of education.

According to @_Larenzo, he topped his class upon graduation from the university in Canada.

Yes I stand by my word.. To be good in Chess requires a high IQ.. Every chess grandmaster is good at mathematics.. A typical Chess grandmaster strategizes, thinks and calculates very fast.. The Indians where most grandmasters are from are excellent at mathematics, even from an early age..I've seen an Indian boy at age 12 solving complex mathematics correctly without biro and paper and he was home-schooled by his poor parents, he can't even attend a proper school due to poverty but his exceptional maths ability is still flourishing unlike Nigerians that blame their environment/government.. To be a mathematics guru is a gift, stop blaming your government or the environment.. "Who no sabi no sabi".

Funny enough, I see myself in this category — though I didn't do 3rd class as the course I studied don't do that ranking.

Some of the thoughts I had 10-12 years ago are now becoming a reality. An example is the wireless transmission of electrical energy as an electromagnetic wave. Either December 2020 or January 2021, I saw a video of a phone charging wirelessly across a room.


My latest thought is the scientific model for some of this our African magic scenarios. For example, bilocation. I'm so certain that it will be a reality before the end of this century. Imagine being in an environment where you can present ideas and work on them.

University education in Nigeria is exam focused and not knowledge focused. In an exam focused system, students focus more on scoring A in the exams as against understanding the concepts being taught in the different courses.

And yes, it is possible to score A's in a course without understanding the course. This can be done by focusing on solving past questions and following the lecturer's "AOCs"(examinable parts of a course). At the end, you score an A and come out with first class with little or no knowledge of your course.

Nigeria has a very stupid educational system, they will give u 3rd class then when you travel out to further your education abroad, you will end up becoming a top notch there.

Nigeria education system make students feels they don't know book . If he didn't travel out to try outside he would have still be considering himself a 3rd class student.

You obviously don’t know much about chess..the country with the highest grandmasters is Russia. India just came up recently. 20 years ago Indians were nowhere in the chess world, the Chinese too. Those countries came up because of the availability of internet and the encouraging environment to play against players from other countries. I have represented my university in nuga games, won a couple of prizes in chess, I can easily play a game of chess blindfolded, I have beaten International masters, fide masters and candidate masters online and yet I don’t consider myself a genius.
