A political group has described the recent outburst by Ladi Adebutu, the dismissed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ogun State, against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as the height of his political irrelevance, stressing that, he is only throwing tantrums.

The Initiative to Save Democracy who made the statement in Lagos on Thursday, said the former lawmaker concocted lies on the TraderMoni Programme so that he could be noticed following 2019 fiasco.

Reacting, the President of the Group, Sunday James Akinloye, said to put the record straight, Adebutu was in the National Assembly when the funding of TraderMoni was approved, so he should know the truth of the matter without being mischievous.

According to him, Adebutu had displayed his crass ignorance on Wednesday when he claimed that before the election, the Federal Government’s Trader Moni programme, which Osinbajo spearheaded, granting market men and women loans, a programme already applauded by the Nigerian masses as a relief for their economic handicap was to buy votes.

Akinloye said: "It appears that Mr Adebutu is just waking up from his slumber. TraderMoni was approved in 2016 when he was a member of the House of Representatives but he didn't know this because he slept through his time in the National Assembly.

"Not only are the facts there for all to see but the accolades that the scheme garnered is global.

"It would be recalled that Tradermoni was named Africa's most impactful scheme by African Bankers.

"TraderMoni also earned global accolades as it was recognised by the United Nations, Oxford University and Desmond Tutu fellowship.

"Yet a grown up man who has lived off his father's wealth is attempting to rubbish the laudable scheme."

The group said it is also important to stress that "TraderMoni was not for Nigerian youths but petty traders. "For the umpteenth time, let it be known that TraderMoni was specifically for petty traders. Those who sold egusi, ogbona, vegetables, water, and others, who had very little capital.

"As for sharing money, we all know that is a lie. The Vice President only had on-site assessment of the scheme. It was the Bank of Industry that registered beneficiaries and disbursed money directly to them.

"The Vice President never shared money at any point in time," the group said.

The group advised Adebutu to get a grip of his life and see the doctor if need be, even describing him as a spoilt brat who didn't probably know how to manage money, the reason he felt everyone uses it for wrong purposes. "The utterances of Mr Adebutu shows that all is not well. When someone starts to speak in a rather disturbing manner, then there is need for them to get help," the group said.

Nigerians should learn from this, Adebutu was voted for to represent his constituency in the house on assembly but he turned it to a sleeping room. At least he should be there when decision and approval of Tradermoni was made. Let this go and sit down jare.

Tradermoni had an impact on small businesses. The disbursement wasn't done by the VP, it was handled by the CBN and BOI.

I can see why you are angry with Dapo despite only serving for 2 years. 2 years not 4 years oooo but because of the bolded you have decided to throw the baby with the bath.

My friend, Dapo is working but if your definition of working is concentrating in that area in the bolded without considering the holistic development of the whole state, then it is unfortunate.
