Octavoral:

We promised, I visited Canada embassy in Nairobi today. I told them about my school resuming on September 5 and how much I need a decision soon. I gave them.my passport and application number and after checking I was told to expect a mail before weekend and if I don't, I should come for a follow up on Monday.

Hoping for a great news.

Thanks all for the push.

Any news Octavoral?

Thank you sir.
Concerning my NYSC experience you spoke of, I served in a school more a less like a secretary (the departmentdidn'trelate to anything I studied). Would that be enough work experience?.

You are welcome.

Yes it is, Canada's requires minimum of 1-year job experience.

Yes i know it is possible you work experience is not related to what you studied, reason why you concluded you ain't got a job experience

Apart from those who graduated with a MEDICAL or Health related degree, we all know that most Nigerian graduates are posted to schools or organizations and are given Job designations that has nothing to do with what they studied in the University. Your NYSC experience would only serve as an evidence that you have a work experience, this has nothing to do with what you studied in school. YOU ARE A FRESH GRADUATE WITH NO OBVIOUS STUDY GAP.

Your work experience as a Corp Member would come in handy in your Study Visa application cos it's a mandatory program Nigerian graduates below 30 years of age are expected to go for after graduating and are assigned to jobs in a location that they are not originally from and most time the job is not related to their degree. You need to enlighten the VO (Visa Officer) briefly about NYSC on your SOP.

It would also interest you to know that Canada loves COMMUNITY SERVICE , VOLUNTEERING etc. and in most cases NYSC should have given you that opportunity to do so most especially COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM organized by your CDS e.g. environmental sanitation, sensitization programs, building of social amenities for your HOST COMMUNITY, Personal CDS etc.

On your IMM form, the EMPLOYMENT SECTION where they asked for CURRENT ACTIVITY/OCCUPATION you are to write NYSC and give other required info as regards your PPA, duration etc.

Go through the contents in the two links below if you haven't, you would see why your job at your PPA is a Job experience and you would also see documents expected of you when preparing for your study visa application

Hello Patrick

You can defer your program till January as it will have no negative effect on your application, if your application is on the route of approval, then the Visa Officer will ask for an updated LOA... You didnt mention when you are suppose to resume, but if its actually close to the date and no update from IRCC, I will advise you defer asap..

When your Visa is ready, its valid for a year i.e You must leave Nigeria within a year that your passport was stamped... So lets assume you are given your PPR this October, then you will have till next October to leave Nigeria for Canada with that same Visa...

PEACE

Patricknetter:

Hello
Pls, I want to defer my program till january 2022, but I'm confused on what that means for my visa application, which is still on progress, If the visa comes out let's say October this year, will I still use the same visa and travel next year or do I need to update some stuff. Please I really need ur help guys, I don't want to make mistakes

Being truthful is key. I disclosed my masters and still got approved for a post graduate certificate. But as we know no two application is same and Everything depends on if it makes sense to the officer assigned to your case.

But I see no reason to lie when there's a chance of getting caught. My opinion though.

Anon123:

Your application will not be approved based on purpose of visit.

If you are interested in pgd, do not mention your masters anywhere in your application or include the certificate.

Hello Bro, you are doing a great job here. Pls do you think running PhD program in university of Victoria is a good move for a guy with his family (wife+2kids)?
Lekiboboe:

Am not too familiar with SELKIRK COLLEGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA, I have only come across a Post Grad. program there before called Culinary Management , and the LIMITATION they have is that they offer only Five POST GRADUATE programs (Business Management, Accounting, Hospitality Management, Culinary Management and Gerontological Nursing) unlike colleges in ONTARIO that offers most of the POST GRAD. programs in Canada.
