I parted with my money because I verify that they registered their company with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) is the reason given by client in many instances when an “investment” company defrauded them of their money.
The fact that a business/ company is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission does not mean it can’t be used to perpetrate fraud or involve in fraudulent transactions.

Before you invest or depart with your money, ensure you conduct a search at the Corporate Affairs Commission or engage a lawyer to do a proper search for you with all necessary agencies.

Many of those so-called registered businesses/companies you think are registered with Corporate Affairs Commission are not even active, some of their directors and or shareholders are all dead, just for one black goat of the director's family to pick up the certificate and start using it for a fraudulent act.

The fact that the so-called registered business/company’s status is no longer active (inactive) on the CAC portal should be a red flag for you. Note that some of the registered companies are expected to have more than a Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate e.g an investment company. Therefore, a CAC certificate alone should not force you to give out your money.
And to all business/company owners registered with CAC, stop parading a dead certificate, go to the CAC website, and check if your business/company status is still active, if not active, do the needful to make it active.

I have been privileged to search for many people, companies, and associations, immediately my search shows that a company is inactive or not up to date with CAC, that is a warning for me. You don’t expect me to advise my client to do business with a company that has no comprehensive record with the CAC or whose status shows “dead”.

Once again the fact that that person told you he registered his business or company with CAC does not mean he is dependable or you can throw your money out in the name of investment. Do the needful by conducting a search or engage a lawyer to guide you before investing your money.

The above information is not a substitute for professional legal advice. This does not create a lawyer-client relationship, nor it a solicitation to offer legal advice. If you need legal advice, please send a direct message.

So Dangote industries Ltd, Famfa oil Ltd and some other very active entities showing "inactive" on CAC website are truely inactive and haven't filed their annual returns? Is that what you're saying @SolicitorLayer ? In as much as you mean good and trying to inform people, please do it with discretion, not every businesses out there showing inactive on CAC website is a scam or illegitimate. My company's annual returns is up to date and yet still showing inactive. Don't implicate genuine business while trying to expose bad once. Check all businesses with the "active" status, all are new businesses registered within 1year and few months, all other entities older than that shows "inactive" status. CAC themselves haven't perfected the system hence there's inaccuracy in system, it can't be used to validate or judge a business activeness & credibility, even though it is what the CAC intends to achieve, they've not perfected it, it's a computer programming issue. They released a public notice regarding this. You ought to know in a nation like ours many things are done half-baked especially when it has to do with government agencies, we're getting better. And for your information a company can still have the active status on CAC portal and still scam people, yet they can't be traced with informations provided to CAC. Many of the Asian & middle East businesses that defrauds Nigerians & African exporters are all registered and licensed business entities and yet they've not been caught. Scam is not peculiar to Nigerians or black people. Let's learn to loud positive things and lower negativity.

My point is, presently, that a business is showing inactive status on CAC portal IS NOT enough reason to raise an unnecessary red flag about the business.

Please let's be careful when we post things in public platforms like these, not only Nigerians are reading.
