I hope this is not someone trying to tarnish the image of the bank.

We have many accounts with GT, I thought GT was useless till I tried UBA and zenith.

It's a Nigerian problem... they need to upgrade their software

GT isn't doing well these days bro. Few hands poor customer service.

This whole piece left me confused. Are there 2 GTBanks in this country? I asked this question because GTBank happens to be my bank of choice because of their exceptional service delivery. I haven't had any issue with this bank in recent times, hence I wonder what this is all about. I hope this is not an attempt to demarket this bank because this is what it looks like to me.

maybe for your side. But I have not had any reason to be in Gtbanks banking hall for any reason aside from collecting my renewed Atm card.. That's how efficient and smooth their services are to me!

I hope more people can speak up against this dirty and cheap attempt at demarketing the bank. On 3 occasions that I had POS dispense errors, the bank reversed the transactions and credited me once I reported the issues via their app or internet banking unlike other banks that I use.

My brother, it is not only GTB, Zenith too does not reverse failed transaction most especially card recharge, electricity payment and paid tv subscription. I had experience with all this and all attempt to get the reversal done has been abortive.
So far, I can say thank you to first Bank when it comes to online banking but please don't go to their banking hall for anything, I mean anything otherwise you will want to close your account immediately.
The long and short of my story is that almost all Nigerian banks are guilty of failing customer service

This first bank thing is true cheesy

This is far from someone or one organisation trying to tarnish the image of GTB or the Nigeria problem.

If I don't know much about GTB, I know for a fact that they have two branches in Osogbo but always open one branch at a time. Whereas, First Bank opens all its four branches at the same time and UBA opens its two branches at the same time despite being side by side in the same location.

UBA is by far better than many Nigeria banks when it comes to app, Web, messenger or ussd.

Someone's definitely trying to castigate GTB.

Since yesterday I have not been able to use Unity Bank ussd code,so I don't think it's perculier to GTBank

I used Unity Bank app to transfer money this afternoon successfully. I don't use GTB but with the way they had been operating their two branches in my state capital, I knew that something was wrong with the bank. Closing one branch and opening the other, then reverse it, then switch again!

True talk. It's quite a disappointment. I transferred funds from my GT app to my neighbour also using GT. I was debited but he was never credited. I complained and they insisted GT to GT transfer can never fail. My neighbour opened his app, and showed me his transaction history, mine wasn't there. Wrote several mails even copies CBN (those ones are even more useless, all you get is an automatically generated reply). Till today, I never got my money back.

GTB has gone from being one of the most sought after bank, to literally one of the most useless and irresponsible . Ive lost count of times airtime loaded from their app that was deducted from my account but never activated on my phone. What about mysterious deductions that didnt have explanations? Try reaching out to their customer service, and was not responded to till after 4-5 days, and still yet, matter will not be resolved. My wife's case is even worse than mine. She's complained endlessly, and has resolved to switch lanes other banks. GTB has always been overrated , and that folks,is everyone's undoinggrin

Gtbank is getting it wrong. Customer service in the banking halls is zero. Customers stand for hours before being attended to.

Their staff are overworked and they refuse to employ more staff even when the bank is making money.

The last time I was in one of their banking halls, I spent over two hours and decided there and then that the suffering was enough. I simply transferred all my balances to another bank. There is no point closing accounts anymore. Just transferr your entire balance to another bank.

By the way, only a handful of banks in Nigeria have good customer service.

GT Bank has bad customer service, right from my experience with my account officer and not to mention that an account that was opened since May is still under restriction, yet I have submitted all documents. After waiting and waiting for almost a month, I called to find out the issue and the account officer said my second referee hadn't been confirmed yet but the first had been confirmed since it was from their bank and if I wanted it to be faster I should submit another GTB referee. I sent another GTB referee 2 weeks ago and till date they haven't confirmed it nor lifted the restriction. I have tried every way to reach them by email, Facebook and all with no response. I called the branch so they could tell me what's wrong and if there's any issue with the documents I submitted, the Lady said there's nothing wrong, I should just be patient for my refereee to be confirmed, a GTB referee is taking almost 3 weeks now for them to confirm yet the bank is already debiting me for account maintenance. I can't wait to be done with them and transfer my funds abeg.

The staffs that resigned have most likely gone to to Canada to get PR.
Anyway, soldier go, soldier come, barracks must remain. When people run to Canada, there are many people in Nigeria that can do the job. GT bank, please go and recruit new staffs and stop over working your current staffs.
Is it until you start to lose customers before you behave? undecided undecided

Easier said than done.

These issues cut across all firms in Nigeria. Ask any recruiter, there is an extreme shortage of qualified hands especially in key IT areas.

It's either the pay isn't commiserate with the stress/level of experience required or every available capable hand are planning on relocating outside the country.

Why would an IT person with years of experience take a shitty $1k per month salary when the turnonver for such apps/infrastructure run into billions? Also soldier go soldier come doesn't apply in IT , if you don't have the experience or technical skills, the results are always very instant. You can't patch such. Firms that have tried it know the results.

as a smarsher, you should know better. Well, I dated a lady who had to resign because of this shit. She wrote even to the head office to complain but a man called her on the phone and told her that those are some of the things she needs to endure. Afterwards, it was quarry upon quarry untill she resigned

Okay, I get you. One thing I know in life is when people do wrong or unethical things, they don't last in this industry. A decade in this industry has shown this as a fact!

I have used GTB USSD code to transfer money 4 times today. It went smoothly and both parties received alerts. So I don't know what you talking about.

I am wondering like you too. I use GT World often, and I hardly encounter problems. Everyone with his own opinion. For me, GT is far ahead of even the 2nd-placed bank.
