The Federal Government has distributed engagement letters and devices to persons it recently trained to monitor its social investment schemes including the Npower Programme in Rivers State.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, said the recipients were among the 5000 monitors from 36 states trained by her ministry in February.

Farouq, who was represented by Ngene Bashir, said the devices would enable the ministry supervise the activities of the monitors and detect areas of challenges

She said: “These devices are equipped with applications that will monitor activities of the independent monitors. All the distributed devices are locally made in Nigeria and the applications designed by an indigenous company.

“The application, which is called the social investment management system, is a mobile and web-based application used to monitor the national investment projects.

“It will help to contribute to Mr. President’s mandate Of lifting 100million Nigerians out of poverty. Each independent monitors is expected to monitor a designated number of beneficiaries of the national social investment programme”.

She said a monthly stipend of N30,000 would be paid to each monitor, adding that there must be an 80 per cent delivery for eligibility to receive payment.

She added: “No independent monitor is allowed to reassign their duties to a third party. Every monitor will be held accountable for the task given to them.

“The ministry reserves the right to withdraw and disengage any monitor for inactivity or double standard or practices. The duration of the assignment is year”.
