Alexia20: I don't know about any other thing but what I do know is that :- 1. You DO not want to start your life or driving life in the UK by giving false information on insurance application forms. 2. Insurance companies do compare notes with one another. 3. You don't want to mess with the British Financial Services Industry (of which Insurance belongs). 4. The UK keeps records like kilode and when you least expect it, it may come back to bite you. 5. If you can not afford to drive a particular car or any car at all, then don't drive. 6. False information on an insurance application form can lead to jail, substantial fines, and a criminal record. I've had a UK licence for decades and I don't have a car. IF you must drive a car, then research first online the total cost of running the car and only buy one when you are sure you can afford the insurance cost and other costs. Thread with caution about supplying false information to insurance companies that are regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority or to any UK company for that matter. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

mex551: Don't worry once they give you the job, your access would be restricted until your clearance come through. I have heard about situations where the security guard escort you to the loo. The security clearance process, most especially, the DV is very intrusive. Be ready to answer questions regarding all your escapades like having side chicks, watching porn and gambling. You cannot lie about these things becausethey already know! Not excluding your family history in Naija. God help you if you got a Russian babe from Plenty of Fish |

Yes they can confirm any information you supply to them so you have to be smart and truthful if you don’t want to invalidate your premium. To be smart, you can make small (legal) tweak to your job title which will cut your car insurance costs. For example, a self employed plumber can claim to be a company owner, a journalist can claim to be a writer, a PhD student can claim to be a research scientist or a chef can claim to be a caterer. The bottom line is provided the job is exactly what you do, this is allowed and can make significant difference in the policy. Adding additional experienced driver to your policy can give you good quotes Try 3rd party, fire and theft rather than comprehensive policy Adding years of no claim bonus (if you have any) to get the NCB discount Years you have held the license will give insurance companies idea about your driving experience Lastly, start making preparations on getting your FULL uk license before u get carried away Alexia20: 9 Likes 5 Shares |

Ticha: How can that work to residency be gotten and is there any reason why you want to move back to the UK? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Ticha: 6:56am On Apr 28, 2022 |
hustla: By applying for jobs. Use www.seek.co.nz Majority of employers will offer work visas as part of the job package. Employers also regularly go to the UK to do recruitment drives. You will need UK experience and certification if needed. It's very rare (have met only 1 person) that was recruited directly from Nigeria and even that person had qualifications from the US (degree and masters). Certain jobs are in higher demand - Engineering, IT, Health. This website also goes into specific details. https://www.newzealandshores.com/working-in-new-zealand/ You can also download the shortage list and target employers in those fields. If the job is on the shortage list, it automatically qualifies for the work to residence visa. You can also apply for visit visas (very easy to get) and come speak to employers face to face. The shortage list is here -https://skillshortages.immigration.govt.nz/ UK is our home base. It's a lovely place to live if one is not in a constant hustle to survive and be comfortable. We're lucky to be in that position now. We also want to provide our children with the opportunity to grow with and spend time extended family members. My parents and in laws are in their 70s and haven't really spent time with the children. Plus secondary education in NZ is shite (good enough). It's poor by OECD standards and if we remain here, we have to go the private education route. That will be $22k per child. We'd rather spend 8 years in the UK for them to complete secondary school in good schools for free, spend time with family, they can get to really know their cousins, visit 9ja as often as we can and spend some time travelling Europe. 22 Likes 11 Shares |

Alexia20: Just remember, almost all insurance companies would love to avoid paying insurance claims.......... If you tweak too much and need to make a claim....... All the documentations they NEVER asked for during your insurance quotation, would now become relevant to your claim and they could very easily invalidate your insurance..... Rendering your insurance policy null and void, making you directly liable, for any cost incurred .......... |

Rubyventures: Lol, it reminds me somehow of what they used to do back home in terms of empty titles - like promoting someone to "Head of Finance, West Africa" when his job is fully based in Lagos and he is not stepping over Seme border for any corporate reason. 2 Likes |

Although most organisations say you have to be in the UK for 5 years to get SC clearance, you can still get it without 5 year residency. I know of someone that came to the UK in September last year and got SC few months ago. The application process did not take up to a month. You will have to provide verifiable details of your last 5 year activities and police report though. mex551: |
