With Revolut free account, you can have a virtual card that would serve the same purpose as your ATM. You also have the option to generate a disposable virtual card. Revolut made me not to know this country's currency cos I rarely carry cash

Not forgetting, revolut also avails you the opportunity within the app, to buy shares, cryptos and commodities......... cheesy

Thanks Team

I registered now on revolut and was able to use their disposable card within few mins of registering. Very fast Indeed. But I just remembered after using the card, what if what I paid for was not delivered and merchant wants to reverse payment, how do you handle that?

I can't say specifically, not having had that issue, but I should think it would work just like any other reversal.

It probably still remains........ So revolut seems to king of new generation banks..........

I like monzo for pots and ability to get paid one day in advance (free) + direct debits notifications (days in advance)..... wink

Ill try out this Monese credit building option for newbies

Looks nice from what i have read but you pay a small token along with it

I switched Monzo for Chase.
the 1% cashback from Chase is something, it adds up.
Its only for 1 year though, so when that ends, I'll switch the Chase to some other bank for any available switching bonus.
No loyalty for jungle.

Which other bank offers cash back?

Good day guy,
Tried exchanging 1300£ on flutterwave on Friday and I realized I have to snap my id real time to verify, although the pounds had been debited. Later that evening when I had my ID, I forgot and used another Gmail account which was diff from the one I used earlier. I got verified on this new account and that was when I knew I bleeped up. Going back to the old account to complete verification and it failed due to duplicate verification. I mailed them and explained situation and they responded 24hrs that I have to cancel one as customers can't have to accounts. I responded and told them to cancel the second one since I wasn't debited on that. They haven't said anything since then. I've mailed them via Twitter and IG, no response.

I'm scared cos na part of school fees. Hope they're not scam sha.

Please clarify if you are calling Africa's highest-valued FinTech firm a scam? grin

It's the weekend, as such, you won't get a fast response as you desire. It should be rectified on Monday.

Yes You Can. I got my first one as a student barely 3 months in this country.

I recommend co-branded cards or loyalty card for starters as they demand less stringent requirements for beginers.

Try the free British Airways American Express card using this referral link below.

http://amex.co.uk/refer/aMaKaUqe5b?XL=MNANS

Please don't be shy to embellish your income small by entering something substantial to prevent rejection. You can put up 10 #19,000 in other income as well

Please ensure you pay your full outstanding monthly and don't carry over more than 30% credit limit utilisation at the statement close date. Anything above 30% reported to the registries has an adverse effect on credit score.

Ps. I am also a beginner in the UK.

What does this credit utilisation mean?

If I get a limit of £5k approved on the card for instance, I used the whole 5k to buy something today and pay back in full tomorrow.

Is there a penalty for using everything in the first instance?

I don't think there is. I have maxed out my card in the past and paid down immediately after as I have a low limit. Haven't noticed any penalty or adverse effect on my score.

Your spending info is internal to your Issuer. The info reported to registries is statement closing position and once you get that part to as close to zero as possible, you are okay

As for Credit Utilisation, it just goes to paint a picture of how "credit hungry" one is. This can be used to build an idea of how good a money manager one is thereby helping lenders make a decision.
