Again.... But we also know that Paradise is not a place in the Kingdom of God since Jesus Christ did not ascend that day into Heaven, not into Hell, both of them in the Kingdom of God, Jesus Christ's Kingdom, on that very day. Jesus Christ did not visit Heaven or Hell before He left this earth and so paradise could not be referring to the Kingdom of God. undecided

Also, we know that no one can enter into Heaven or Hell, both of them of the Kingdom of God, until after being judged by Jesus Christ, this according to Jesus Christ - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46..... undecided
if you consider every thing else Jesus Christ taught us of the Kingdom of God, it is even clearer that Paradise is not of the Kingdom of God and hence not according to what Jesus Christ taught in Matthew 16 vs 21 - 28 undecided

If Jesus would judge us all before entering his kingdom, then why would the case of the thief on the right hand be different?

Many different explanations have been suggested about what Jesus meant by this prediction. Most scholars and commentators agree He was referring to the "transfiguration," literally the very next event mentioned by Matthew. Jesus will be transfigured from His fully human form into His glorious kingdom appearance as the Son of God. His face will shine like the sun, and His clothes will become white as light (Matthew 17:1–2). Peter, James, and John will be eyewitnesses to this event.

A smaller number of interpreters believe Jesus was implying that the disciples would not die before seeing Him resurrected, or seeing the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, or seeing increasing numbers of people believe in Jesus following His resurrection and return to heaven.

An even smaller number of scholars connect this prediction of Jesus to the destruction of the Jewish temple in AD 70 or to the second coming of Christ.

The transfiguration seems to be the most natural fit for Jesus' prediction here, especially since it follows so quickly after this moment. Peter, James, and John are truly given a glimpse of Jesus in the full glory of His natural state in the kingdom of heaven—something extraordinarily rare among living people.

1. It is related to the Old Covenant and so the location of Paradise is not made known in the New Covenant. undecided

2 & 3. The Kingdom of God belongs to Jesus Christ the one who is heir and King in the Kingdom of God. According to Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God is in and all around us. No need to look for it!. undecided

4. Jesus Christ came to give us a New Law, the New Covenant. The thief on the cross was instead of the Old Law, so His case was judged according to the Old and not the New Law. undecided

Now as to why Jesus Christ pardoned the thief on the cross for his sins, I believe it has something to do with God's declaration in Ezekiel 33 vs 9 -20, a decree that Zacchaeus is said to have also benefited from. undecided

10 “So, son of man, speak to the family of Israel for me. They might say, ‘We have sinned and broken the law. Our sins are too heavy to bear. We rot away because of them. What can we do to live?’
11 “You must say to them, ‘The Lord God says: By my life, I swear that I don’t enjoy seeing people die—not even evil people! I don’t want them to die. I want them to come back to me. I want them to change their lives so that they can really live. So come back to me! Stop doing bad things! Why must you die, family of Israel?’
12 “Son of man, tell your people: ‘The good things people did in the past will not save them if they become bad and begin to sin. In the same way the bad things people did in the past will not destroy them if they turn from their evil. So remember, the good things people did in the past will not save them if they begin to sin.’
13 “Maybe I will tell good people that they will live. But maybe those good people will begin to think that the good things they did in the past will save them. So they might begin to do bad things, but I will not remember the good things they did in the past! No, they will die because of the bad things they begin to do.
14 “Or maybe I will tell some evil people that they will die. But they might change their lives, stop sinning, and begin to live right. They might become good and fair.
15 They might give back the things they took when they loaned money. They might pay for the things they stole. They might begin to follow the laws that give life and stop doing bad things. Then they will surely live. They will not die.
16 I will not remember the bad things they did in the past, because now they live right and are fair. So they will live!
17 “But your people say, ‘That’s not fair! The Lord cannot be like that!’

“But they are the people who are not fair! They are the people who must change!
18 If good people stop doing good and begin to sin, they will die because of their sins.
19 And if evil people stop doing wrong and start living right and being fair, they will live.
20 You still say that I am not fair, but I am telling you the truth. Family of Israel, everyone will be judged for what they do!” - Ezekiel 33 vs 10 - 20
Verse 19 is what I believe the thief on the cross was judged on. undecided

UPDATE: Following the conversation that Jesus Christ had with the thief on the cross, it turns out paradise literally means the grave, and yes, the dead aren't conscious or asleep— it is written in scripture and Jesus Christ Himself confirmed this in the case of Lazarus, His friend — and so the content of Luke 16 is confirmed a parable by that. undecided

The promise that Jesus Christ made to the thief on the cross is that he, the thief, would be with Him, Jesus Christ, in paradise that same day. And we confirm from what is written Jesus Christ was in the grave that very same day and remained there for 3 days afterward. Invariably, Jesus Christ's promise to the thief was that he, the thief, would die that same day as opposed to hanging alive on the cross for many days after, which was a common occurrence for many of the victims of crucifixion back then. undecided


So, indeed, the thief on the cross was judged by God according to His Old Law Standard as stated by God in Ezekiel 33 vs 9 - 10 and as such He did gain righteousness by that standard, granting Him eternal life after death. But no, the thief did not enter the Kingdom of God --- he will not have a part in Heaven as a result --- and as such can only benefit of God's Old Law promise detailed in Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20. . undecided
