Good Evening Nairalanders.. Its been long since I posted here, I just have to again....please I have a problem at home with my family, especially my mom and Dad.. My dad is a pastor, doing well for himself and I support my dad , I don't mean bad for him But the problem I have is they've been telling me to be a pastor, and I'm tired of the songs everyday... Actually I don't want to be a pastor and I don't have any desire or zeal to be a pastor, I've tried to explain to them most of the things I want to be in life ... still yet they're forcing the word pastor into my life.. I believe someone can do other things and still get loved by God, I don't want to get the title pastor behind my name...I know being a pastor is not a bad thing but I don't desire..I desire other things apart from being a pastor. My parents force me to preach in church which many times I do it not to emba them in public but deep down I know I don't desire... I literally do other things to the glory of God in church, I play keyboard, I sing in church, I clean the church...and I've also prayed to God I don't want to be a pastor... I asked them why I should be a pastor no strong reason, because in the family most of the male children are pastors.. etc I'm 21years old Please what should I do? At least I have gotten to a stage in life where I can make some decisions for myself...but my parents are not just allowing it, not only in this pastoral issue... Please I need your advise. Thanks |

Just play along till you are able to stand on your feet and get a good job or business. Don't be negatively driven by their request. But when I'm back to the state ..they burden me with pastor and church all the time...they expect me to be perfect or saint ...you talk back to them now . they'll say you're shouting at them or talking back at them...you just have to listen when they're talking I don even tire |

Pheurly2:Back to the state? Then continue to look for other places to spend your time on more productive things until you are able to become independent of them. Avoid contact with them as much as you can until you are able to move out to live your own life on your own terms. |

Bro. Being a shepherd is a calling, not a title. God has to call you. Not what you feel like doing or being cajoled by people into it, before demon lick your life because there is no grace to stand in that office. Reply your parents with this statement : If God called me to be a pastor like you said, let him tell me himself. Ministry work is a serious business. If God doesn't call you and you run ,you are on your own. When the time is right in His own divine timing, He will call me if I am meant for it. Till then, let me serve in the little God has put in my heart to do. Isn't it good? |

One thing i expect your parents to know is that, "pastor" is a ministry that is given by the Holy Spirit to man. not forced on man by any man. Its a calling and If you're called, you'll know as you yourself will feel the prompting of the Holy spirit to go into it. Again, it maybe your parents Know this fact but are just trying to get you fully engaged and involved in the things of God to prevent you from becoming wayward or getting involved in worldly vices. So just see it as a means they're employing to keep you in check and making sure you don't derail from God's presence. I don't really blame them though considering the rate at which youths of nowadays are easily carried away with the love for wordly things, truncating their destiny in the process. Relax your mind and stop fighting it because the more you do, the more the pressure will increase. So relax. Flow naturally with the system and continue asking the Holy Spirit to guide you. with time, they too will relax; by what time it will be clear to them what you really want to do. |

Kobojunkie: How can you advise such, @ " avoid contact with them"? Please, Stop poisoning his mind against his parents. That's witchcraft. No matter what, they are still his parents. As long as he's still under their roof, he can't flout their orders. So he won't even be able to achieve such feats until he's out of their house. |

Mercychen:His parents are poisoning his mind against God and His Truth. Asking him to avoid them as much as possible is the best solution in this. I know many of you have been deceived into believing your parents gods over you, this by your very parents, the truth is they are not. They are instead meant to be responsible for you until you are old enough to make your own choices and go out in to the world on your own. This boy will achieve much more if he can stay away from the poison spewed continually at him by his parents, even as he remains under their roof. So avoiding them and their poison is, again, the best thing for him to do. |

Pheurly2: Give your life to christ. I think you're facing many internal distraction. And your parents knows it's not about being a Pastor . They could feel the distraction that is brewing inside of you. and they feel by pushing you in ministry will kill it. Using such language as you being "Tired of the songs" is a red flag. You were dedicated to God. most times Satan come after Pastors children to make them wayward. don't give in to it. Get to know christ personally. love God with passion. every christian is supposed to be a preacher how much more a pastors kid. cut off from your wrong circle of friends. you know what in talking about. You posted these things because of the support you want to get from others and you may get many people here telling you what you want to hear. But I tell you . every christian in a preacher every christian is a minister. every christian ought to love God and do ministry. except there's a distraction . You don't have to carry the name Pastor but you must do ministry. it doesn't stop you from any other profession. Kenneth Hagin Jr. also was distracted . went to join army etc. thank God he found his way back. Satan comes for preachers kid. He knows they were dedicated to God through prophecy.
