oh, doesnt sound like something that would pose a problem. All you need is to liase with Seun. You need his database
Re: DELETE by dellnet: 4:27pm On Jun 06, 2011
Fayimora:

Impossible. In fact I am thinking of encrypting any database I will deploy to the internet so even the host companies cant use my data.

I think this is a welcome development if is in line with site owner's objective.
Re: DELETE by Afritelly: 11:02pm On Jun 06, 2011

Concur. I think if there is any development is to upgrade this dinosaur site.
Re: DELETE by Fayimora(m): 12:54am On Jun 09, 2011
hahaha, Well like i said. Without his database, the app would be like a web browser which makes no sense.
Re: DELETE by Afritelly: 7:35am On Jun 09, 2011
Is Seun not around or is he not willing to create another account for somebody on his web hosting?
Re: DELETE by Nobody: 2:36pm On Jun 09, 2011
Neccesarily doesn't have to be a Database, obviously sharing Database with a third party is a No-No,Seun can create some sort of Web API,that'll sit in the middle between the Database and the App,just like the REST API for Twitter,u know that return each stuff in JSON,just a mini app with reply and send thats all.abi am a wrong.

Well thats if he is willing to wink Mostly people just free their database and change credentials or whatever later on,
Re: DELETE by Nobody: 6:40pm On Jun 09, 2011
@dell_net thanks a lot i usually spend much time on JavaScript cuz to be frank i think JavaScript is the future for frontend scripting,as there things i see and codes i never knew existed before.and Most API'S are now using JavaScript to pull almost everything off from Facebook Graph,to anything.will write a tutorial on creating an API when am free.take care @Fayimore nice job bro.u bringing programming section alive.
Re: DELETE by Nobody: 8:57pm On Jun 09, 2011
i guess the ppl in charge just realized the benefit of the "3 year old" facebook like button, decided to add it last week

expect the BB/Iphone app in 3 years.

Nairaland is accessible via wap and mobiel browser - in full html extensions.

What benefit will a Nairaland BB app grant, would it support google ads as currently on the HTML version? there must exist a business value not just user-experience
Re: DELETE by NumberOne2(m): 11:59pm On Jun 26, 2011
Dear Nairaland Programmers,

It is not rocket science to develope a blackberry application for nairaland. Its a global competetive environment we live in now with ICT as a driving force. In order to remain relevant you need to move with trend. Don't be left behind. Its bad for business + we(NL users) deserve/need it. We hope you look into our humble request.

                                                       Thank You.
Two questions for ya;

1) What happens to those that DO NOT use BB phones?
2) Will Google ads run on the BB app just like on the webpage? Nairaland is a business NOT a charity.
I'm sure when you have GOOD answers to these questions "Nairaland It Staff" will be all ears.
