CBN Keeps Benchmark Interest Rate At 11.5% by Nemere2020: 2:50pm On Nov 23, 2021
The monetary policy committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has voted to retain the monetary policy rate (MPR), which measures interest rate, at 11.5 percent.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday after the committee’s two-day meeting at the CBN headquarters in Abuja, Godwin Emefiele, governor of the apex bank, said the committee members unanimously retained key rates constant.

According to Emefiele, the committee voted to maintain the key lending rate at 11.5 percent, with the asymmetric corridor of +100 and -700 basis points around the MPR.

I tuned to the news when the cbn kofonor was reading all of the sorts from papers,

I nearly doze off cuz it was all sounding like incantations for initiating madness.

But immediately the crap reading finished, I knew.

The wave of the sound of the whole texts affected the nature of the atmosphere.

What impact will it ever make?
Drops of shit!!!

Per month or yearly?

Loool Ponzi schemes don finish you people

You see MPR of 11 percent from the only monetary policy holder for the whole country you are asking per month or per year

It’s per year sir

MPR rate is what interest rates on savings and the same by banks can give out retail loans

As funny as it sounds it’s the rate all investment managers or unit fund managers can give a return on any investment

So if you ever see any scheme saying bring money and you get more than 11 percent of your capital within a 1 year period run oooo

The decision of the Central Bank to retain the monetary policy, despite a rise in inflationary pressure, indicates that the apex bank aims to expand credit to the real sector at low-interest rates.

This action will hope to boost production, increase business activities in the country, and also increase consumer spending.

I don't do ponzi, and i thought the interest rate was on individual loans from banks hence the question
Re: CBN Keeps Benchmark Interest Rate At 11.5% by bigpicture001: 4:50pm On Nov 23, 2021
This means the CBN will discount loans to commercial bank which seek it from her at 11%.

That will set the tone on how much the banks will set theirs to their borrowers...

If CBN goes 20%< the banks will set around 20+2 or - 2.. if CBN set it at 3% the banks will set around that margin also..

The efect of theses rates means that ifs it's cheap for the commercial banks to get a loan from the CBN. It's will translate to cheapness to get a loan from the commercial bank..

CBN call theirs MPR.( Monetary policy rate) or discount rates.. while commercial banks call theirs interest rates.. IR.

That's all it means

I don't need to own a business to know that everything is wrong.

If the cost of production is getting low, consumers will start paying less not more.

Because the cost of production is getting high, consumers are paying more.

Sorry I didn't mean to insult you the very first time
